...a Northern Ireland politician has said.

The attraction in Sichuan province, about 930 miles from the sea, will let hundreds of people at a time experience the shipwreck.

The Titanic was built in east Belfast.

Former Lord Mayor of Belfast Jim Rodgers said he had asked the Chinese firm behind the 1bn yuan (£100.7m) project to reconsider their plans.

He said that while it was a "great idea" to build the Titanic replica at the Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort, "to have a simulation of an iceberg collision is going a step too far".

Is anyone else laughing after reading this?

Because I am. I laugh any time I hear of something ridiculously inappropriate happening, and this certainly counts.

Next up on the theme park list: Concentration Coaster! Get temporary number tattoo as you grab your ticket, get forcibly stripped to your skivvies as you board, and enjoy the shower-filled fun! But watch out for Hitler!

Why is that in poorer taste than making a $billion buck off it with a movie?

I recall there being a "San Francisco Earthquake" ride at Cedar Point in the 70s. Who knows when it was first built.

Oh heavens to pete, there are no more living survivors of the early 1900s tragedy! Its well out of the PTSD zone for any living being. What’s wrong with it? Do we have to be so sennnnnnnsitive to everything? Is skin that thin these days? (I know it is with libs, that’s why they exclusively are offended by these things it seems when they come along. Libs in ANY country)....

Titanic without the iceberg is like Sherlock without Moriarty, or Superman without kryptonite. No conflict, no show.

“Why is that in poorer taste than making a $billion buck off it with a movie?”

Winner.

Hollywood gets away with murder in the department of offensive.

Hey—its 100 years ago the silly ship sank and took all those lives with her to the bottom—I think the idea is clever and it will make money. Its not like a Holocaust wax museum that depicts the suffering of Jews—and their extermination in Gas Chambers.

It is a very popular movie in China. Besides, what’s in bad taste about it. People need to get a life.

And?

I go to Universal Studio to experience an earthquake simulation and I love the ride.

When they had the “Back Draft” feature I went through it I don’t know how many times.

Brought tears to my eyes. I love being scared and anything spicy.

I ain’t heard no one bitch about the various movies of this tragedy.

seems the last one made a few stars and some pretty decent money.

And the Band Played On....
