New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton defended the bludgeoning of 84 year old Kang Wong by City police officers as fully justified. The incident occurred as part of the Citys new get tough on jaywalking campaign. Wong, who does not speak English was roughed up by several cops when he failed to obey the first officers command to stay put as he wrote Wong a ticket for jaywalking. After the beat down Wong was taken to the hospital where surgical staples had to be applied to close a scalp wound.
Bratton insisted that the scalp wound mustve happened when Mr. Wong fell, and discounted the possibility that one of the many blows to the head he received from the officers batons could have been responsible. In our view, the intervention of the City Police may have saved Mr. Wongs life, Bratton speculated. The street on which he was jaywalking was the site of a pedestrian fatality earlier that very same day.
The Commissioner brushed aside critics contentions that excessive force was used. Crossing the street mid-block is against the law, Bratton pointed out. Law breakers like Mr. Wong expose themselves to harm by breaking this law and have only themselves to blame if they suffer damage for lack of expeditious compliance with the commands of a duly authorized member of the Police Force.
ping
mustve happened when Mr. Wong fell,
I guess it’s better than claiming that Mr. Wong repeatedly, masochistically, rammed his head into the bewildered officers’ billy clubs.
Jaywalking on a busy NYC street not good, but assault under color of authority is a criminal act. Bratton needs to pull his head out of his @$$.
He must’ve somehow led the authorities to believe he’s a Christian conservative. That’s forbidden in NY now. I wonder how his re-education is going.
if true
it’s nazi like horsecrap like this that will make targeting cops a more common occurance.
Tough coppers beating up an 84yr old man...pitiful. I wouldn’t live in that crap of a city for anything.
A military man doing this in Iraq would suffer double or quadruple jeopardy between civil suits, military courts and local demands for his trial in absentia.
US cops get a medal for beating their tax payers who impede on their side fund raising business here and there.
How many NYC cops does it take to throw someone down the steps?
None, the person slipped.
Deblasio, Cuomo et al. I’ll never go to NYC again. I’d never risk one dime of my money being spent there.
Actually, simply shooting him would have been “fully justified.” Probably shooting the two people closest to him in the same fusillade would have been “fully justified.”
Instance karma...Supreme Court Approved
Cop Block.....Now is nation wide.
Taking back the streets in this country one at a time from the boys in the magical blue, above the law, costumes.
The new and improved bad boy bad boy what you gonna do, what you gonna do when your (cop crimes filmed out in public) is on YouTube.
True enough on the black color psychological effect and it is a nice looking uniform except for the red arm patch.....Historic precedent also shows they lost completely once the good guys (U.S.A.) stood up to them THANK God.
These bad criminal cops, cowards, are losing the battle and will lose it all in the end..
Americas good (great) cops have started thinning their their own ranks..
THIS has started thanks to our latest war VETERANS getting into law enforcement..They know and were taught right from wrong and it’s to late for the government to change their minds now. I believe the tide has turned and the government knows it.
This is to why the Gov. has tried bribing these new police with familiar weapons of war.
sorry for the rant but cops beating old people always p@%^ me off..
Thank goodness the tough NYC cops beat an 84 year old man who was jaywalking; giving him injuries that put him in the hospital. Jaywalking could cause this old man to be injured; putting him the hospital. *sheesh*
What is sad, yet not unexpected, is to have the police now double-down and blame the victim for his injuries. This is the police commissioners first reaction; to defend his cops... not defend the public. Cops now owe their allegiance to their union; not the public. With this attitude, any behavior by the police can and will be excused.
Unfortunately, a lawsuit, although fully justified in this case, will only result in the taxpayers being punished. If there were real justice, the cops who beat this 84 year old man would be stripped of their assets and put in prison for assault.
Three costumed agents of the state at work. NY is much safer now that the old man has blood on his face from ‘falling’. And why doesn’t the big one give the old man his glasses?
