With the Cliven Bundy story still fresh on the minds of many Americans, its a shock to see a state government turn the tides on the federal government by passing legislation that demands it hand over control of 30 million acres of land.
Its become commonplace to see news stories of the opposite phenomenon, as the federal government, working through the Bureau of Land Management, has time and again trampled on the private property rights of its citizens and claimed lands for itself. This is not the case in Utah.
Utah Governor Gary Herbert signed a bill earlier this year that strips massive acreage of land from the overreaching hands of the federal government to help build the states economy and resources. Of course, not everyone seems to be happy about the land going back into the hands of its rightful owners.

Cool. I’ll be watching to see how this turns out.

Great news!
It’s about time.
Cliven, now this, etc.. These are first salvos in the early stages of Civil War II / American Rev II.
They said they were going to do that. I hope they take it all!
What’s the federal government doing with all this land anyway? It’s fallow. The only legitimate land needs of the federal government are those required for military bases, which ain’t a whole lot. I don’t have the numbers but it has been stated many times that the federal government could pay off or pay down the debt by auctioning or selling federal property. President Reagan’s Interior Secretary, James Watt, suggested it and was it was dismissed out of hand. But that’s when the deficit was but a small fraction of today’s. I am sure there would be thousands of people interested in buying it up and putting it to good use. If properly managed, there’s no reason such a program could not be used to relieve at least a portion of the public debt being placed on the young and unborn.
Unfortunately, the evil in the left that has bred a nation of needy government suckers and power hungry politians, will die rather than give up their ill gotten gains.

The next revolution isn’t going to be like the first one...think more along the lines of the French Revolution.....
Very different....
Time for Utah to take back the Grand Staircase that Bill Clinton confiscated.
Interesting.
Hurrah!!!
more to follow soon I hope!
The article cited is woefully lacking in details about the legislation. I did a search and found what I think this article is referring to. Is it this - http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/24/us-utah-lands-idUSBRE82N03420120324 ? That’s two years old. Hardly breaking news. Moreover, the state is not grabbing land back. They are demanding that the federal government give it back or they are going to sue. Well, good luck with that!
Ah, Haley vs. United States. Haley: 7, United States: nothing. You see, it can be done!
Yes, it is about time a state was brave enough to stand up for this.
