I wonder how many insulin resistant people would be pushed into full-blown diabetes by eating nothing but carbs, including rice and potatoes.

As long as you avoid WHITE rice, WHITE potatos, and WHITE bread, your insulin will be just fine.

“But too much protein is what is making us fat and sick.”

No, sorry, the less protein I eat, the fatter and sicker I get.

Meanwhile, the early Eskimos demonstrated that you CAN survive just fine on a meat/fish diet.

Almost 100% fat, no processed foods, no sugar, no heart disease, no cancer.

Think there is a link? The ones who live on the 'reservations' paint a different story.

Grains will kill you.

Lot's of places, but not from Big Government and Big Agriculture.

Here are a few. Grains are relatively new in the human diet. I believe grains scar the arteries, and then colesterol builds up to 'heal' the scaring, and causes blockages. And heart disease. Lot's of other problems, as this sample of articles point out. But do your own research. I dropped 45 lbs, and shrunk my belly from 36 to 32 inched by cutting out sugar and grains.

"As long as you avoid WHITE rice, WHITE potatos, and WHITE bread, your insulin will be just fine. "

Wrong. Brown rice and whole wheat bread might not spike you as badly as their white counterparts, but they're stll carbs. Any diabetic who consumes a lot of carbs will be in trouble.

My mother did just that, and it killed her.

I’ll check it out, but it looks like your links are all paleo propaganda. Paleo is just a repackaging of Atkins, which is discredited nonsense.

>i?That cliché doesn't hold up if you actually think about it for more than half a second.

Maybe you could actually spend more than a half-second thinking about it and elaborate.

Paleo is just a repackaging of Atkins

I really don't know anything about Atkins. My diet is:

1. Eat only real foods. Real foods do not have a list of ingredients
2. Eliminate all processed foods with chemicals
3. Eliminate refined sugars, esp. HFCS
4. Eliminate all grains.

So I suggest you eat lots of natural foods - meats, dairy, eggs, vegetables, legumes. I eat fruit, but never drink fruit juice (This concentrates the sugars.) I only eat hormone free, grass fed meats. Free range chicken and eggs. Natural foods. I eat everything I want, and as I mentioned, I went from 215 to 170, and dropped 4 inches of belly fat in 2 years. My bp is 110/65, and I have a resting heart rate of 53. I do work out (racquetball) 6 days a week.

No...the addition of the husk to the carbohydrates adds fiber and some vitamins; BUT the bad carb calories are still there. Don’t believe the white hype—too many carbs are all bad, no matter what color.

I believe grains scar the arteries, and then colesterol builds up to 'heal' the scaring, and causes blockages.

There's also a theory that high cholesterol is the body's reaction to vitamin D deficiency. Because the body creates vitamin D using cholesterol and sunlight, if someone isn't getting enough sunlight the body will try to compensate by increase cholesterol in an attempt to make the most of the sunlight it gets.

I agree on the natural foods part. And I blend fruit, never juice it. But no way am I eating meats, dairy and eggs. However plenty of whole grains is perfectly fine for me.

Yes, Vitamin D is so important, especially for women.
