April 22 is Earth Day, which was the brain child of an activist named Ira Einhorn, a self-proclaimed hippie environmentalist and, of course, and opponent of the Vietnam War. The holiday is Easter and Christmas all in one for the environmental movement. It is said to be a celebration of the Earth, which is thus far humanitys sole home, but is actually a celebration of misery and death. The opposition of environmentalists to virtually life-saving and life-improving technology from genetically modified organisms and all but the most stringently approved forms of energy bears witness to that supposition.
Einhorn, who called himself Unicorn, was one of those left-wingers who, having all the politically correct beliefs on the issues of the day, had a far darker side in his personal life. It seems that on or about September 9, 1977 Einhorn murdered his estranged girlfriend, Helen Maddux and composted her body in a trunk. This little bit of environmental body disposal was Einhorns undoing, as 18 months after the murder, while investigating the leakage of a reddish brown liquid through the floor of Einhorns Philadelphia apartment, police found the mummified body of Maddux in the trunk with Styrofoam, air fresheners, and newspapers.
Einhorn was arrested and granted bail. He jumped bail and spent the next 23 years hiding out in a number of European countries. Einhorn was eventually extradited from France to stand trial. Oddly, the jury did not believe his story of CIA agents murdering Maddux and framing it on him and found him guilty. Einhorn is currently serving a life sentence.

Einhorn's neighbors began complaining about a foul smell coming from his apartment, which in turn aroused the suspicion of authorities. Eighteen months later on March 28, 1979, Maddux's decomposing corpse was found by police in a trunk stored in a closet in Einhorn's apartment. After finding Maddux the police reportedly said to Einhorn, "It looks like we found Holly," to which Einhorn reportedly replied, "You found what you found." Einhorn's bail was reduced to $40,000 at the request of his attorney Arlen Specter; Einhorn was released from custody in advance of his trial by paying 10% of the bond's value, or $4,000.- wikipedia
...and that Earth Day was chosen to be Lenin's birthday
I heard about this several years ago when Tom Marr was on a Philly station.
I understand Tom Marr is a FReeper. If so, thank you Sir, for telling this tale.
I was in high school way back before globull warming, in fact in the globull cooling days. The Clean Air and Clean Water Acts had been passed which we all thought was pretty cool. So, we celebrated Earth Day by going outside to enjoy the spring weather and goofing off for a day.
It’s humanity’s hotel... it isn’t its sole home.
There’s hell and heaven.
Earth Day was created by a vile murderer on April 22, 1970 to celebrate the 100th birthday of Vladimir Lenin, the vile & ruthless leftwing communist dicktator.
The vile leftwing communists/socialists continue celebrating the dicktator and murderer.
I was the only kid on the bus to school on Earth day morning.
I was in 9th grade. I had the whole bus to myself, and thought it was great. We passed throngs of other kids who were walking. I looked down on them.
The bus home that day was as full as normal.
BTW, I remember very well when Einhorn's 'girl friend' was found in the trunk and when he jumped bail.
Gefn’s idea, but glad to help.
Ditto and not to mention Earth Day's pagan roots.
I celebrated Earth Day by burning tires...
I’m so glad someone posted this so I didn’t have to. Nasty, dirty, hippy scum!!
Earth Day - created by a man who whacked his girlfriend in the head when she tried to leave him. He then stuffed her possibly not yet dead body in a trunk in his back room for 18 months and then blames the CIA for putting it there. Then does a road trip in Europe to escape the trial.
Arlene Specter - rot in hell over this!!
I like P. J. O’Rourke’s name for Earth Day: “Dirt and Squalor Day.”
You and the African National Congress.

That is an uncalled-for remark.
Are you kidding about what you just said???????
