Ruby Cavanaugh, the namesake of the Ruby's Diner franchise, has died at age 93.
Cavanaugh, the inspiration behind Ruby's Diner, died Sunday with her family at her side.

WOW!!! That was one heck of a long shaker we just had here in Glen Valley.

Ruby’s is kind of a modern day OC icon restaurant chain.
Being olde, and local I remember when they began. In HB the café on the modern pier, replaced a previous icon, the “End Café.”
Another local chain is Woody’s.
She’s not the namesake. She’s the eponym.

My local Ruby’s is on PCH in Corona del Mar - food ok, service outstanding
The last time I ate at Ruby’s, I noticed that there seemed to be fewer items on the menu than when I had eaten there previously. I read later that the new management is not only reducing the number of menu items but will be junking the 1940’s theme in favor of a 1960’s theme.
