In the raging battle of culture wars — another one bites the dust. This time an English white male known as William Shakespeare has been removed from his prominent place at that bastion of Ivy League-ness, the University of Pennsylvania. English Department Chair Jed Esty confirmed that students removed Shakespeare’s portrait from its location in Fisher-Bennett Hall, as “a way of affirming their commitment to a more inclusive mission for the English department,” The Daily Pennsylvanian reported. […]

So for whom did The Bard stand down at the University of Pennsylvania? You probably have never even heard of her. I had to look her up. Her name is Audre Lorde, a self-described “a black feminist lesbian mother poet.” …

For some reason, whenever I hear the word “inclusive”, I want to jam the end of a baseball bat into the mouth of the person saying it.

Stupid gas. It must be created by some marine creature that breeds in coastal waters. If you don’t spill a bit of oil in there, it overpopulates and creates toxic clouds of stupid gas. It’s hoped that global warming will destroy this species.

OK, let’s get real racist here.

Historically speaking, what races have the greatest percentage of scientists, inventors, adventurers, explorers, military geniuses, artists, & medical researchers? I’d say those falling into the Caucasian and Asian races.

While the above named types were doing their deeds, what races were still operating at the tribal level with near stone age technology?

How about in today’s modern era. Which races do the most to pull the cart, and which ones are more apt to be riding in the cart or just wanting it to stop?

I’m sick of the racist crap. We cannot help what race we are, but we can better ourselves simply by trying to be better.

What’s the origin of “Snowflakes?” Is it that they’re northerners? They melt easily?

That Shakespeare dude is like, soooo prehistoric... We need to honor and teach our children the significant works of more contemporary classic poets...

It is time to stop funding public colleges and universities. Exceptions for medicine and engineering. These places are no different than a junk yard guarded by gang bangers an pit bull dogs. And in saying that I may be insulting a few nice dogs.

Snowflake = everyone is a unique beautiful precious individual, worth nothing amid the flurry of other flakes, and melts into oblivion at the slightest hint of heat.

It’s their own term used against them by simple logical extension.

English departments in general and Penn in particular have been left wing kook city for a long time.

At a local university, the English department announced a plan to replace teaching Shakespeare with more diverse offerings (25 years ago). My friend then announced he would then be teaching Shakespeare from his position in the Computer Science department. The English department backed down immediately, they had to defend their turf doncha know, dolts.

Each snowflake is special and unique. No two snowflakes are exactly alike.
And they are very fragile and delicate.

In 1951, the SF author, Cyril M. Kornbluth (C M Kornbluth) wrote a novella of the future titled “The Marching Morons”. The premise was a future where the low intelligence population vastly outnumbers a working and functional intelligent elite who are forced to labor mightily to keep society functioning.

Now, I fear that we are seeing this in action. Whilst we may be deluded about the intelligence of these ‘precious snowflakes’, their worth and endurance is yet to be tested and the preliminary tests, like this one, are not promising! To invoke a meme, this has all of the aspects of the inmates taking over the asylum, only in this case, the adults of the institution are not resisting but instead aiding and abetting!

The idiocy of this individual action demonstrates the error of the disconnect between short term satisfaction of the internal morons in (symbolically) replacing Shakespeare and the longer term of detriment for the graduates when they demonstrate palpable ignorance at common usage of quotes by the same. Thus, unless they volunteer for remedial education, they will be subject to that ‘ill wind’ that will sweep them out to be replaced with the knowledgable!

Yes, ‘ill wind’ does come from Proverbs in the Bible, but they have ALREADY thrown that into the trash at the Universities! Those pictures of NAZI Book bonfires? The Universities today cannot have bonfires but that is only because the EPA has regulations against it!

Kornbluth was a prophet. . . and a weirdo:

According to Pohl, Kornbluth never brushed his teeth, and they were literally green. Deeply embarrassed by this, Kornbluth developed the habit of holding his hand in front of his mouth when speaking.

Kornbluth disliked black coffee, but felt obliged to acquire a taste for it because he believed that professional authors were “supposed to” drink black coffee. He trained himself by putting gradually less cream into each cup of coffee he drank, until he eventually “weaned himself” (Knight’s description) and switched to black coffee. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyril_M._Kornbluth#Personality_and_habits
