Dr Who (David Tennant) – Angels in the Snow – Annie Lennox
YouTube ^

Posted on 12/08/2018 11:52:10 AM PST by mairdie

I really think David Tennant is my favorite Doctor. Annie Lennox's "Angels in the Snow."

Henry Livingston's stories were in Clement Moore's library while he was growing up, as his father was a subscriber to the magazine in which Henry published. Audio of “Memoirs of a Pine Tree” by Henry Livingston, published in the New-York Magazine of March, 1792. A pine tree describes the world he knew as a young sapling, when only native Americans roamed the woods. Henry's comparison of their culture with that of his current day is absolutely fascinating.

I was HOPING that an audio book version of Henry's stories would be good, and Byron Nilsson's narration turned out better than I'd even hoped for.

Baker was best, but Tennant is a close second, IMNHO.

The Peter Capaldi “Heaven Sent”/“Hell Bent”. episode was utterly amazing. That castle and that thing and just everything about it was perfect. Utterly brilliant. Wasn’t the biggest fan of Capaldi at first but his 2nd season was fantastic. Loved Tennant and thought Matt Smith was great as well. Was never a huge fan of Christopher Eccleston. Could tell he was just doing it for money and to pad his resume and that he didn’t actually like it that much. Jodie Whittaker has been a disappointment. She’s too nice and too upfront about what she’s thinking/planning. Too much politics as well. She just isn’t zany enough. The writing in the last two seasons has just kind of sucked.

Very moving scenes and music together.

The pine tree’s tale is quite vivid, and I’m guessing it was quite an innovation of perspective for that day. It reminds me somewhat of the tale of the little tree who so wanted to be a Christmas tree.... and then got his wish. And I’m wondering if Ol’ Henry didn’t influence THAT author.

My favorites, in order:
  1. Baker (Dr #4)
  2. Pertwee (Dr #3)
  3. Tennant (Dr #10)
  4. Smith (Dr #11)

Disliked the most, in order:

  1. McCoy (Dr #7)
  2. Davison (Dr #5)
  3. McGann (Dr #8)
  4. Capaldi (Dr #12)

Just on principle, I won't disgrace the Dr Who reputation by mentioning the current Dr...

Dr #69... (How else could she have gotten the part?)

I thought Christopher Eccleston was better for his ability to bring the franchise back.   The romance/sexual tension between Billie Piper and David Tennant was contrived and not canon from the original series.

I do like the personal family connections with the Fifth Dr. and the Tenth Dr. and the Doctor's daughter and wife interlinking. Really cool.
Every statement in the following two paragraphs is absolutely, 100% true.

The Doctor met the Doctor’s daughter, who was also the Doctor’s daughter, in 2008. The Doctor’s daughter later married the Doctor, thus becoming the Doctor’s wife. The Doctor became the Doctor’s son-in-law, while the Doctor became the Doctor’s father-in-law.

The Doctor and his wife (the Doctor’s Daughter) have two children, who are the Doctor’s children and the Doctor’s grandchildren.

In that sense the Tenth Doctor is the best all around. And I guess too, it moved Peter Davison up a couple of notches on the list.

Time Lord Analytics — The Doctor’s Daughter

As a footnote: Sylvester McCoy caused me to stop watching just as the last Doctor has. Yes, I think the franchise is finished again.

In her defense it is not so much her as it is the writers focusing on “Council Homes” third word culture. That thug kid mentioning “Me Nan” ever two or three minutes and hating his stepfather drove me up the wall. I made it into the forth episode and shut it off for good.

I loved the Capaldi Heaven/Hell one very much and liked him. Some of the scripts and stories were kind of weak. He wasn’t.

For the most part I like all of them. Some more than others.

Jodie tries but she doesn’t grip me. A total state of un-grippedness. I guess Leela will never get a mention since she carried a knife.

Leela of the “Sevateem” is/was my all time favorite companion.

I never got into Capaldi, but maybe I should at least check out that one.
Thanks!

Glad someone else remembers.

Hard to pick a number one favorite.

Louise Jameson is definitely up there.

I’d put Pertwee down one and remove Smith.
But to each his/her/its own.
I like Colin Baker, too, and Patrick Troughton, though I remember the latter better from Jason and the Argonauts.

I liked Ecclestone as well and would have enjoyed a couple more seasons, then Tennant.

Sounds like Heinlein’s “All you zombies!”

It was made into a movie a few years back, called “Predestination,” iirc. Amazingly faithful to the short story.

I sometimes thought revisiting the Sevateem would have been a good episode idea.
