Eating a cup of yogurt a day may lower your risk of developing lung cancer, a new study suggests.

Researchers found that those who ate a daily serving of yogurt lowered their risk of the disease by 20 percent compared to those who did not eat yogurt every day.

And people who ate a serving of yogurt a day - along with a high fiber diet - were able to lower their risk of lung cancer by more than 30 percent.

Studies have shown some probiotics, live bacteria found in yogurt, have anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting properties.

The team, from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, says its findings show that consuming dairy shouldn't be discouraged - and that a reexamination of the potential benefits of dairy is needed.

JohnnyAK, Anchorage, United States,

My son has battled with eczema since he was 9 months old. He got pneumonia when he was 4 and the only thing he would eat for several days was yogurt His eczema completely vanished during that time for the first and only time in his life.

I have been doing this often, high fat plain fatty yogurt or kefir. Great with mixed berries

I am thinking of making tzatsiki and see what it does for psoriasis. Garlic, cucumber, and yogurt.

I might try a day of just that if I can figure out what to dip it with since bread would be out.

I believe kefir is better than yogurt, it has a broader spectrum of good probiotics. We drink it daily, make our own.

Gyros meat is the best thing to dip in tzatziki sauce, or failing that, dip spicy Balkan cevap sausages!

I buy cheap store brand yogurt for $2/qt and make smoothies with it. I wish I could find whole milk yogurt at the store, but they don’t seem to have it.

I tried Chobani Greek yogurt and didn’t like it at all. Too thick, with a weird grain-like texture.

Yes, I agree. I spent a month in Greece long ago and loved gyros with tzatziki. However defeats the purpose of seeing what will happen with psoriasis. I have developed a patch on my leg under the kneecap.

I suppose Veggies and tzatziki for two days might be an experiment

Try kombucha, or kimchi, or organic sauerkraut.

Yogurt is great to eat straight. Berries like blueberries blackberries or raspberries are very low sugar fruits you could add.
