Baking Soda & Epson Salt

Posted on 06/28/2020 1:05:07 PM PDT by Dacula

I am tired of buying store-bought products that do more harm than good.

I am curious if fellow FReepers were using baking soda and Epson Salt on a regular basis and if so what is your favorite tip.

Perhaps you have another 'Secret' product that you use.

They recommend baking soda and vinegar to clean nonstick pans that have started sticking. I tried it but it didn’t work. I also tried baking soda and vinegar to unclog a drain. That didn’t work either. I do have a lot of success using vinegar to remove lime scale from our shower. I also use baking soda as an abrasive to clean up baking dishes.

I have lived my whole life not knowing about “Scrud”

I have tried a variety of methods..vinegar..baking soda..official products....including putting the dishwasher tab in the washing machine hack....

but I can still see some of it through the holes

Disgusting

since i cant take apart my washing machine will probably just get new one soon anyway because it is pretty old

Vinegar’s good for residue on saw chains and bars.
Soak over night.

Iron oxide and aluminum powder with a hint of magnesium
will keep you warm.

Thank you chicagolady,

I would never have known to use Borax to kill mold, fungus, or mildew.

I am going to try it with my coffee. I just don’t drink a lot of caffeinated drinks. I barely drink a cup of coffee every few weeks.

a small dish or sprinkling of boric acid will rid your rooms of most crawling insects including roaches and large water bugs.

I just found that my floor cleaner “Fabuloso” will make those large water bugs (look like roaches on steroids to me) turn belly up.

The original Palmolive green liquid soap will kill fleas and ticks when used as a dog wash.

If fleas get in your carpet or furniture, put a small dish of some flea killer under a focused lamp light at night with the other lights off. My aunt used to use black walnut juice extract for the killer.

The borax is fine to use unless you are using it in the cat's food or in their litter box.

If you want to be really careful then put your borax and sugar water mix inside a plastic container with some ant sized holes in it.

2 tablespoons of plain Epsom salts in a gallon of water. Water tomato plants with it 1x per month.

Supposedly makes tomatoes sweeter.

RummyChick,

You can go to any od thrift or antique store from a new washing machine. There are some from the 1800s still around.

Just kidding. :)

Baking soda, epsom salt and add red wine to taste. Brush on steak and marinade overnight.

You said no politics but you didn’t say no humor. :)

I put bbq briquettes in women’s nylons, then hang them in my gun safes to dehumidify them, keep the moisture down.
