Poll: The U.S. Military Has An Increasingly Unfavorable View Of Trump

The Military Times has released a new poll among U.S. troops and its findings are bad news for President Trump. Conducted between July 27 and August 10, 2020 among 1,018 active-duty service members, it found that Trump has experienced a continuous decline in support from service members since his election in 2016. In the year he took office, 46.1% of service members viewed him as favorable and that slid to 37.8% by August of this year. The research found that 49.9% of respondents held a negative view of the president in 2019 and 2020. 7.9% currently view him as very unfavorable with 42% finding him generally unfavorable. Trump still does have strong support among some members of military with 24.5% holding a very favorable view of the commander-in-chief in August 2020, 13.3% finding him favorable and the remaining 12.3% holding a neutral opinion.

Compared to a similar Military Times poll conducted in 2016, Trump is heading into the November election without a healthy lead among service members. In October 2016, he held 40.5% of voting intention among military ranks, far ahead of Hillary Clinton's 20.6%. The remaining 34.3% of respondents said they would opt for a third party candidate. Fast-forward to August 2020 and Joe Biden is the most popular candidate with 41.3% of service members intending to vote for him this November compared to 37.4% who say they will vote for Trump. The share of the military looking towards a third party this time around has declined to 12.8%. The Republican Party has long considered the military a key part of its supporter base and these levels of unfavorability are unprecedented for a GOP president.

Meh

When Bush1 was prez, most my active duty friends thought he was a dunce
Bush 2 - bigger dunce and a war monger

Bil Clinton - the most actively hated POTUS that I had the misery to serve under.

Thank the many Gods I was out when the Sun God, Emperor Bammy the worst got scammed it. Ya, manifestly unpopular with a large segment of the GIs that I know.

I think Ronny Raygun was the last ‘popular’ POYUS in memory for the avg Grunt.

I haven’t seen the commercial, I only thought I heard someone mention it on another thread.

But it wouldn’t be surprising...

Obama had 8 years to seed all areas of government with his flunkies. So, even if this poll is questionable, it's likely that the military isn't as pro-Trump as it should be.

Maybe they are hoping Republicans won’t raise a stink when military ballots are disqualified like in previous elections.

A lot of people forget how obambi gutted the military of every one who didn’t support his evil agendas. Like the school system.

The United States of America will NOT be cutting funding to @starsandstripes magazine under my watch. It will continue to be a wonderful source of information to our Great Military!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 4, 2020

You are correct. Gannett ownership has destroyed the usefulness of all the military times papers. When I quit Army Times, Gannett had imported some German with a ‘euro-cosmopolitan metrosexual attitude. Obituaries were practically eliminated as were virtually service history and customs articles. The paper became a mass of poorly edited lifts from various inside the beltway agencies PR shops. The editorial and op eds became constantly woke and supported endless global engagements while constantly ripping GWB.
These papers have little utility for anyone in or interested in the military.

Now take a poll from small landlords who are being ruined by the no rent mandates being pushed by the governors and now by Trump. Then you might might find some bad numbers that are legit.

It's a stay on evictions, not a no rent mandate. The tenant still owes the amount in deficit; you just can't throw him out if he is unable (not unwilling) to pay. To be protected they have to be able to prove poverty, not just plead it.

How many have died on overseas soil since the inauguration of Trump? He’s getting our people out of unnecessary conflict.

My point exactly. Luckily, like all places these days, patriots are everywhere. And growing daily. Just don’t answer polls.

One wacko does not speak for our Navy. There was also the newly minted Army officer whom had just graduated from West Point. In fact it was graduation day that he destroyed his military career; he posted pics of him with a Che tee shirt under his uniform shirt, then he took his hat off and showed us his message taped inside his hat, it said, “Communism will win”. He’s no longer in the military, they tossed him pretty quickly. But I will admit, much of the officer corps is hoplessly socialist and leftist in their politics, so if President Trump wants to fix our military he should start with Flag Ranks and go from there, purge all of them who were promoted by obama. I fear some of the highest ranking officers might still harbor loyalty to obama, and not the Commander in Chief President Trump.

That is the frightening truth. I posted earlier that I fear there are Flag Ranks that still harbor loyalty for obama. As for the enlisted ranks, its still overwhelmingly conservative and traditional in their politics. Most millenials whom are far left nut cases do not go in the military. I would estimate, and this is only from personal experience, when I was in it was about 75% to 80% conservative and right leaning and today its still about the same because most of the military comes from the American heartland and even most of their millenials that go in the military are very traditional and Patriotic Americans, not far left wackos. But there are a few of the wack jobs even in the military, just not many.

Getting or Collecting on a judgement in my state is not an easy task. Basically it is a waist of time to even try. They hoops that have been put in place always protect the debtor. If they don’t have to pay now then they never will. That is just the way it is.

How about the government pays the rent then they try and collect on it. They will never do that because they know that they would loose there shirt. Even with all of their resources to collect. The idea that landlords can later collect is nothing more than another political talking point designed to appease the ignorant. Like all socialist talking points it obviously works well for a gullible populace.

California just canceled rent due in many cases. And NY is trying to do the same. That is what happens when people sit back and let them get away with one thing then they know they can get away with even more. Just ask the Jews.
