The True Origins of Gold in Our Universe May Have Just Changed, Again
Science Alert ^ | 15 Sep, 2020 | MICHELLE STARR

When humanity finally detected the collision between two neutron stars in 2017, we confirmed a long-held theory - in the energetic fires of these incredible explosions, elements heavier than iron are forged.

And so, we thought we had an answer to the question of how these elements - including gold - propagated throughout the Universe.

But a new analysis has revealed a problem. According to new galactic chemical evolution models, neutron star collisions don't even come close to producing the abundances of heavy elements found in the Milky Way galaxy today.

"Neutron star mergers did not produce enough heavy elements in the early life of the Universe, and they still don't now, 14 billion years later," said astrophysicist Amanda Karakas of Monash University and the ARC Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in 3 Dimensions (ASTRO 3D) in Australia.

"The Universe didn't make them fast enough to account for their presence in very ancient stars, and, overall, there are simply not enough collisions going on to account for the abundance of these elements around today."

"We can think of stars as giant pressure cookers where new elements are created," Karakas said. "The reactions that make these elements also provide the energy that keeps stars shining bright for billions of years. As stars age, they produce heavier and heavier elements as their insides heat up."

To create elements heavier than iron - such as gold, silver, thorium and uranium - the rapid neutron-capture process, or r-process, is required. This can take place in really energetic explosions, which generate a series of nuclear reactions in which atomic nuclei collide with neutrons to synthesise elements heavier than iron.

You left off Bidenium, the element that clings onto female elements in an unwanted way.

WTH? I was taught that core-collapse Type II supernovae created elements heavier than lithium.

When did the conventional wisdom shift to neutron star mergers?

Silly Rabbit, science is only 'settled' when democrats can make a buck off of it.

If one reads their bible, the tons of gold, in Solomon’s temple, had several tons of gold; even when the Queen of Sheba visited, she gave him a few more tons - where did this gold go?

So beryllium and boron don’t exist?

From Wickipedia: Beryllium is a chemical element with the symbol Be and atomic number 4. It is a relatively rare element in the universe, usually occurring as a product of the spallation of larger atomic nuclei that have collided with cosmic rays. Boron is a chemical element with the symbol B and atomic number 5. Produced entirely by cosmic ray spallation and supernovae and not by stellar nucleosynthesis, it is a low-abundance element in the Solar System and in the Earth's crust. It constitutes about 0.001 percent by weight of Earth’s crust. Within the cores of stars, beryllium is depleted as it is fused into heavier elements. It is a divalent element which occurs naturally only in combination with other elements in minerals.

Normal fusion in stars can produce elements up to iron.

Where to Beryllium and boron come from?

Another way of asking what origin the background color indicates...

Yes. They aren’t finding the amounts of lighter elements that “settled science” says the Big Bang should have created. Not even close.

Then the theories can’t figure out where all the heavy elements came from. 13.5 billion years is not even close to being nearly enough time. Time spans more in the trillions of years would be required.

And then they’ve had to invent undetectable matter and energy to account for the motions of the galaxies. And they talk about dark matter and energy as if it is settled that they exist, yet these have never been observed or detected in any fashion.

Actually there have been no advancements in physics theory since the 70s. Every new theory that has been suggested to explain everything has been unproven. No evidence for any of them at all.

The Hadron supercollider has turned up no new ideas. Yet the physicists expect to be given even more billions to build another larger supercollider so that they might find something.

They are on the wrong track. Relativity cannot be reconciled with the Standard Model for particles. Gravity lies outside any explanation.

It’s time for the blank check to these people to be shut off.
