'Empire's Terrence Howard Invented His Own Weirdo Version Of Math
MSN ^ | 3/18

Posted on 03/24/2022 12:33:46 PM PDT by nickcarraway

According to Howard, he was studying chemical engineering at New York's Pratt Institute when he had a disagreement with a professor over a complex mathematical problem: 1 x 1. We are not joking. Howard strongly believes that one times one equals two, and the media is lying to you about it equaling one. As he put it on a Rolling Stone profile on him:

"How can it equal one?" he said. "If one times one equals one that means that two is of no value because one times itself has no effect. One times one equals two because the square root of four is two, so what's the square root of two? Should be one, but we're told it's two, and that cannot be." This did not go over well, he says, and he soon left school. "I mean, you can't conform when you know innately that something is wrong."

Yes, he dropped out over the 1 x 1 = 2 controversy, and he's still passionate about educating people about their mathematical misconceptions. In the same article, he said: "This is the last century that our children will ever have been taught that one times one is one," he says. “They won't have to grow up in ignorance. Twenty years from now, they'll know that one times one equals two. We're about to show a new truth. The true universal math."

The Germans are in both places. It's on the internet so it must be true. Of course, it could be a ruse to throw us off.

But you don’t know how many apples I had when you started.

You need a new first line that says:

“You have no apples.”

Multiply Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster

Definition of multiply. (Entry 1 of 3) transitive verb. 1 : to increase in number especially greatly or in multiples

And again,

transitive verb
1a : to become greater in number :

That there are other definitions as well doesn’t negate the fact that it also means to increase in number— -

He is confused because the square root of 2 is an irrational number. I hesitate to imagine how that explanation would go with this dimwit.

Good luck? for what? Citing facts? Just citing what others have declared- in this case dictionaries- I was told “No- it doesn’t” (mean increase)- that is inaccurate-

Clearly you are reasoning in the real world, whereas Terrence Howard is not. BUT he does make a interesting point from a different dimensional variables perspective. I wonder how he would answer 1 x 2 =

My daughter asks the question: how did this guy get all the way to college in the first place not understanding how multiplication works?

I bet he can recruit a few from the the Flat Earth Society to join his cause!

Careful. We have a few here who believe that crap.

“That there are other definitions as well doesn’t negate the fact that it also means to increase in number— -”

It means that in a literary context, if you are writing prose or poetry. It definitely does not mean that in a mathematical context, which is the only context that matters when we are discussing mathematics.

This is Terrence Howard, not Terrence K. Williams. He did appear on the Tonight Show with Trump, though.

So is science according to some for this exact type of thinking.

The only reason math and science are the way they are is because of white supremacy. If black people had been given the chance to develop their own ‘science’ the ‘science’ would be different. SMH. ...or we ‘stole’ it from them and then dumbed down their population.

It just shows a staggering lack of understanding...
