[[Kids today have no idea how to make their own fun. ]]

Sure they do, they download a stone skipping app and sit for hours skipping virtual flat rocks

I remember a “Peanuts” strip where Charlie Brown was skipping stones into the water. I think it was Linus who told him that stone took thousands of years to get to shore and he just threw it back.

I threw one, and at the instant I released it, realized it was part of an indian arrowhead (about 1 1/2 inch dia).

It hit a log boom about 30 feet out. I snorkled until I found it.

My record is 17 skips. I was in high school at the time.

Taught both kids how to skip rocks and it kept them busy for hours.

Smith River California. Family camp trips . Had some good rocks for skipping, We were actually more impressed by stones that would turn a bit and create a rooster tail.

There was quite a bit of pumice there from Crater Lake/Mount Mazama. Throw a large chunk of that in then commence shore bombardment before it floated away.

23 skips is the most I’ve ever got; broke 20 quite a bit, but could never get much past that.

Nice guy. He used to live a few blocks away from me for years. I wondered where he moved to.

If we could only convince all leftists to pick up and leave for the nearest pond and spend the rest of their lives skipping stones... Not a bad example here.

He reminds me of several *famous* men who have carved themselves notoriety in their own areas.

David Lawrence of Albany, VT; The Story of Pete the Moose,

HD Thoreau of Walden fame

Dick Proenneke, Alaska

The/Leatherman(vagabond)

My dad was really a pro at stone-skipping. He and his bros would have contests.

The best things in life are free.

I come from the era when "mumblety-peg" was a thing....and all kids carried a pocket knife in their pocket.

Can you imagine, today that happening?

How far we have fallen from the pure pleasures of growing up.

A game of marbles?
