For the first time in my life I am not proud of my country

My heart and soul aches, knowing we as a whole have fallen short in electing for the first time in my life time a true American hero and figure that could have a monument build before he departs our planet for all he has done for US, as in you, me and the United States. I am an independent voter who now feels no faith again in our political system, Republicans have been two faced by initially hating McCain till nominated and then jump ship when he loses, Democrats selfishly ignore all the signs of Obama’s disrespect for our country and allow our country to be vulnerability to our enemies who will put our soldiers lives in danger whom protect us while we enjoy our shallow ignorant lives. I have respected and admired John McCain for a very long time. This is the first Presidential election in my life time that I truly saw a man comparable to our forefathers, whom would lead and protect our nation and truly shake up politics across both parties to bring government back to the people. He represents all the values and traits my father imbedded in me, give a better life to your children then you had, serve a greater good by truly doing it and my father too served our country in war, respectful to our elders who have traveled a longer and earned road. I too toke a while to understand this and is the reason I lean to the right, since I respect the value of leaning to the moral right of abortion and other key selfish issues even though I may disagree with some of them. I did not vote for our current President Bush, yes I voted for Gore and Kerry. But each time I gave President Bush a chance to prove me wrong, and I feel he did, imperfectly but he did protect us and I am ashamed the democrats and moderate independents can not see that and allowed this to happen. I did want to be prepared to give Obama the same chance I gave Bush and wanting to help heal our nations racial wounds but after researching his past I CANNOT support or will I recognize Obama as our President, may not mean much to him but sure does ache my heart since I love my country whole heartily. How can I, I ask everyone, since his past shows nothing but horrible selfish political agendas and proven he has no honor to our country since he sees it completely imperfect, fetches his lawyers to win at all costs and shown no loyalty since he will throw his family members and anyone who helped him get where he is under the bus to continue his selfish political agenda. I have seen this in others and wish instead of completely changing our country, rather he would just move to a country that already has those selfish qualities. Now I see he will drag US into depression with his policies to double figure unemployment, have to apply the draft since our military are not going to re-up or even join to serve a dishonorable leader who only allows our enemies to put their fangs in us and finally will only divide the races again in our nation since instead of a shining figure as the first African American President he will bring us further down then Jimmy Carter did. Let me finish with praying that I wish him and his family a safe journey through the next four years and the role he will undertake humbles him to leave his selfish crooked ways in the past and proof me wrong, if not, God bless America and hope we all can heal from his agenda.

I’m proud of my country. Why wouldn’t I be? Because 52% of VOTERS (not the population of the nation, but maybe 1/5 of the entire population) were taken in by a snakeoil salesman?

Good grief! Can we have a ‘vanities only’ section added to FR?

America was a great country and has done good in an evil world being based on biblical ethics. I am proud of my country but despise the political elites who destroy our constitution and the marxist left as well as the foolish liberal run GOP and RNC.
We conservatives need a new conservative party , no liberals allowed, and should remember it is impossible to convert a corrupt political party. This election proved that liberal lite does not work and I truly wonder how many illegals voted and how many people of the left voted more than once.

If you don’t like the vanities, then don’t READ them. Seems simple to me. I never understand the complaints from those like you, howling about the “vanities”- get over it.

For right now- let the folks vent. They are scared and disappointed.

Beyond everything, you may not agree with the outcome of this or that election, but the system of democracy is the best ever devised because it does give the people the government they want. And later they can change it.

Winston Churchill is one of the great leaders of history and how he rallied his people to overcome the Germans will be remembered as long as humans exist. Yet in the election of 1945, without any hostile media and while the war was not yet won, the people who lived through those dark days voted him out of office.

Most democracies on average change the ins and outs every decade. In the long run, it benefits them in that it invigorates the society in a way that never happens in one-party states. It would have been nice if the first black president had been a class guy whom everyone could respect and not a “charlatan” in the words of Eagleburger, but it didn’t happen; but the people did speak, as they did in 1945 in the UK.

The debauched, greedy of gain Clintons (both of them) callously took this country a long way down the socialist hole. Strangely, a lot of people who voted for them and who are now very afraid of Obama still are enamored of them and cannot connect the dots.

. . and still, “Bush” will be blamed for the latest round of Dow Jones slumps with investors reacting to an Obama victory. - Anyone worshipping Obama and Joe Biden just research Chicago and see what America has become. Obama “community organized” in Chicago and see the results of the decay in the communities in his realm of influence. Might as well change the name of the blue states to Chicagoica, or perhaps Obamaville.

Interestingly, my Italian/American friend...dual citizenship, but her heart lies in Italy...is a racist. She’ll tell you, quietly, that what’s wrong with this country starts and ends with broken borders and black people. Yet she voted for Obama. Why? Because she wanted socialized medicine. She and her husband pay $800 plus a month for coverage, and this cuts into their hefty vacation fund. She’d like us to pick up the tab for their aches and pains.

I wonder what she’ll have to say in the coming months as Obama trots out his Marxist plans. (She denies he’s a Marxist, but then she refuses to see any warts on the Great One.) And she thinks Hitler wasn’t really all that bad.

There are too many of them here. FR used to be a great source of news - and members’ opinions posted in the article’s threads - without wading through the countless number of vanity posts. Get over yourself.

FR is still a great source of news, I meant to say. Just too many vanities.

I hold that life is like a wheel. Sometimes we're on the upper position, others we're on the lower position. I still have trust on the American System. This is how I see it. Eight or Four years ago, people on the other side were also feeling what we feel today. They worked hard, and the system allowed them to take the power. I still believe that we, too, will be in power again.

As for 0bama, just look at Dubya. Eight, four years ago, so many people loved him. Today, how many Freepers actually hate him?
