The rhyme and reason of Sarah Palin's endorsements
The Washington Post's The Fix ^ | June 4, 2010 | Chris Cillizza

After a stretch in which an endorsement from Sarah Palin was considered a rarity, the former Alaska governor has become something of an endorsement machine as of late. In the past week alone, she has endorsed four candidates, ranging from a tea party contender for Senate in her home state of Alaska to the GOP establishment favorite for Iowa governor.

Palin has backed both clear winners and decided long-shots; she's weighed in on behalf of "mama grizzlies," but an extra X chromosome doesn't necessarily mean an automatic endorsement (see Hutchison, Kay Bailey). Some candidates (such as former Redskins tight end and Washington Senate hopeful Clint Didier) have enjoyed her backing long before their primaries; another, Fox News commentator Angela McGlowan, got the Palin nod via a tweet mere hours before polls closed on primary day.

The recent barrage of endorsements also represents a shift from Palin's strategy in March, when she released a target list of 20 House districts, but did not name favored GOP candidates in those races.

We took a look at Palin's recent endorsements and found that if there's any rhyme or reason to them, it's that they're as idiosyncratic and unpredictable as the former governor herself.

That said, Palin's endorsements do break down into a few rough categories, which we've outlined below:

1. Outsiders/tea party candidates: Palin has always touted herself as a candidate running outside the establishment; it comes as little surprise, then, that a fair number of the candidates she's backed this cycle have tended to be political "outsiders" (or have at least been running under that mantle).

Ophthalmologist Rand Paul (R) in Kentucky is the most prominent example in this category.(continued)

You’d better knock it off with the keyword spamming.

Get a look at the keyword spamming our good-buddy Rabscuttle385 has done to this thread.

What do you wanna bet he doesn't have the guts to admit how stupid and childish this behavior is?

Were we right or what?

This is really mind-boggling to me.

How somebody can act so immature like this and expect that

1. He won't get caught.
2. Anybody would take him seriously once this behavior got outed.

Whenever you see the keywords loaded with crap, notify the admin moderator like I did in post #30 to ask who’s been crapping the keywords. I actually add keywords of my own for reference to retrieve articles, and for this one I added “WaPoSPendorsement” and just added “rabscuttlespamming”.

He sure is a sour little guy. I think he has issues with women and grown-ups. Typical Paultard/Baldwinite malcontent.

To paraphrase another poster:

What a great day!

First, a certain Paulbot (name undisclosed) gets his rear end busted for being the juvenile, pimply faced, chubby kindergartner he is.

Next, a certain messup runs away in disgrace after being unable to contain himself.

And last, a certain financier posts the most cringeworthy, whiniest, and pathetic plea for help on FR ever.

Congrats to all on a worthy day!

Signed,
An army swarmer of one. A guitar player most excellent.

All kudos go to Sarah Fan UK.......ain't it grand......

I don’t agree with rabs on everything but I do like him. I feel the same way about you too, as you well know.

I don’t agree with anyone on everything. I’m sure most people are that way.

Trashing people without pinging them first.

You better cringe again, you pathetic little runt.

You are naming me and mkjessup without pinging.

And hoping and joking about mkjessup having a heart attack, and laughing about it, is beneath contempt for this website!!

Back in March Mr Vander Platts had this to say about Governor Palin:
Where I live in Sioux City, Iowa, I’m not Sarah Palin, I can’t see Russia, but I can see South Dakota. You know who ranks No. 1 in the country for hospitable business environment? South Dakota,” he said. “I tell people all over the state, as soon as we make Sioux City, Iowa, competitive with North Sioux City, South Dakota, we’ve opened up this state for business.

As a result , he now has to deal with this:

Iowa Poll: A Register Exclusive Since 1943
Former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad holds a 2-to-1 edge over his closest rival for the Republican nomination for governor, and is seen as the strongest candidate on the attributes most important to voters in Tuesday’s primary for governor, according to The Des Moines Register’s Iowa Poll.

According to the poll, Branstad stands out as the best in the three-way GOP race at bringing new jobs, cutting government spending and being able to beat Democratic Gov. Chet Culver — qualities the poll respondents identified as top priorities.

A solid majority — 57 percent — of likely GOP primary voters say they expect to vote for Branstad, a former four-term governor returning to campaign politics after a 12-year hiatus.
