Att'y Roy Black: Rush Was in Constant Pain
NewsMax ^ | 10/13/03 | Limbacher

Talk radio megastar Rush Limbaugh suffered constant pain since surgery to alleviate a chronic back problem failed six years ago, his attorney, Roy Black, said Monday.

"One thing I can tell you is that Rush Limbaugh has been in pain for many years . . . sort of this constant pain," he told NBC's Today Show.

"Anyone who has suffered through this knows how difficult that is," the powerhouse lawyer contended. "It is very easy under those circumstances to fall into abuse of medication. And I think now that Rush realizes how much that's going to affect his health and his life [he] has pledged to take care of that."

Black said that he had "all the confidence in the world" that Limbaugh would be able to kick the painkiller pill habit with the proper treatment. Immediately after Friday's broadcast, the top rated talker checked himself into a rehab program at an undisclosed location.

As for Limbaugh's legal predicament - Florida law enforcement authorities have confirmed he's under investigation as part of a wider probe - Black said only that his client would keep his pledge to cooperate.

Asked if Limbaugh's decision to enter a 30-day rehabilitation program would have any impact on how prosecutors decided to handle his case, Black said, "I would certainly think so."

Big difference in getting addicted as the result of pain medication following an unsucessful surgery and using coke/crystal to pack your nose to get high. The distintion will be lost on the left!!

Roy Black has been vilified on this forum many times---let's see if he is again.

P.S. He is a great attorney whether he's representing Rush, Marv "The Bite" Albert, or a Kennedy.

All I can say is that I have watched my 82-year-old mother suffer terribly with intermittent back pain and it is awful.

Her most recent episode is going on right now and began nearly two months ago. Pain management scheduled her for epidural injections, but.........the earliest available appointment is November 26th. Absurd !!!!

If I could get my hands on someting that relieved her pain, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, many strong pain relievers have been prescribed and have given little help.

I have a brother with even worse problems and I could never explain them all here.

It is very easy to be free of pain and condemn somoene else who is desperately seeking relief. But how many people would sit and do nothing if they were suffering and knew that a particular drug could ease their agony?

Rush may have made some errors in judgment and got himself involved in a bad situation, but it seems evident that a need, a very human need, for comfort set him on that path. Who is anyone to judge?

As one who does have the constant pain, I can certainly understand Rush's problem. Glad he has a good attorney, he will need it against the lefties who will do all they can to see him in prison for life.

Ok. It's official. Rush's "drug/pain" problem started in 1997.

His detractors claim he was involved in his drug problem when he made his statement about jailing drug people - IN 1995.

I cannot answer that. I don't know exactly what type of pain he suffered.

I guess it is likely that the drugs got him through the day.

I know that my mom just keeps on going because she hurts whether she is sitting at home or out somewhere and she may as well be a little distracted..

"Watch the heartless liberals non-compassion to this great American."

Rush can deal with the non-compassion of the liberals, it is to be expected. The important thing is for us, the loyal ditto heads, to assure Rush that we are on his side and praying for his full recovery from this addiction and from the pain that caused the dependence upon pain pills in the first place.

I certainly can't answer your question, but maybe his meds allowed it? I'm sure he'll explain all that when he comes back.

As you know, from personal experience, unrelenting pain is a life of Hell.

I have to believe that the jump-on-Rush crowd has been blessed and never had such pain or seen a loved one suffer it.

It sure changes one's perspective to see it up close and personal.

Watch the heartless liberals non-compassion to this great American.

The Liberals and the Mainstream Media had a GOLDEN opportunity. Since they claim to be compassionate, all they had to do was to shower that compassion on Limbaugh's predicament. Say how pain can be aweful, and many people become addicted to pain killers while trying to get their pain down to a manageable level, and how they sympathize with Rush, and noone should have to go through that, etc. etc. People might have flocked back to the Liberal fold, and believed how open and truthful the Mainstream Media was.

BUT, they just couldn't do that, could they?
They twisted the knife, and thus not only lost a golden opportunity, but re-emphasized their brutality as exemplified in the LA Times Slime Attack. Requiescat in Pace, oh embittered liberal media.

And IMHO, we need to keep Marta in our prayers. This must be a living hell for her - having to listen to all his detractors having a field day while he's out of the loop.
