Since its inception, Free Republic has been the world's premeire online gathering place for the discussion of the news, issues, opinions, and just about everything else.

There have been several times when the members of Free Republic have posted important breaking news stories first, scooping the outlets of the mainstream media.

Some exemplary threads merit mention in what I'd like to call the Free Republic Hall of Fame Threads.

I believe this is a good way to remember and share some of the most important discussions that have occured on Free Republic.

I have a lot of favorite threads...sadly several are no longer available.

Broadcasting LIVE from Saddam's House, downtown Baghdad, iiiiiit's FOX NEWS! is one of my favs from this year.

I have to go through My Comments ,bookmarks and the hundreds of threads I saved to my hard drive to get a list together.

What no one mentioned the Poopy pool thread/s or the Test and Ignore threads?

Some of my other favorites were the quiz threads...like What is your Pirate name, Are you a Serial Killer, Which Firearm are You? and fun threads like that.

I think of that eventful time in DC every time I see your name, Fred. I remember those Fred Mertz T-shirts!

I was pleasantly surprised to catch Bonaparte's name in a post recently. He shared his freedom fries with me in DC. Another FReeper loaned me some money for a drink. I think he changed his screen name since; that must have been done for a reason so I guess I shouldn't say the old name - I do believe he may be known as ParrotsUp now?

I also remember driving back and forth in a van through Georgetown (piloted wantonly by Bob J.) with a bunch of FReepers as we tried to find a place to eat. It was only like, 11:00 at night and everything was closed!
