It’s the start of a New Year, and with that I’d like to give you all my New Year’s Resolutions with respect to Free Republic. Are there any New Year’s Resolutions you’d like to make for the benefit of FR? Some examples that come to mind are, fewer personal attacks. Debate the message, don’t personally attack the poster. Maybe your resolution will be to post fewer vanities, or to post vanities to chat. Another resolution might be to search prior to posting threads. Whatever you might strive to do for Free Republic, let us know. Maybe you’d like to make amends with a certain poster. Give it a shot.

My personal New Year's Resolution to Free Republic:

I’d like to be better at answering your questions via mail and pings. We do get busy, and sometimes your questions get lost in the sheer volume. So, I’ll resolve to try better to answer your inquiries. If you don’t get an answer in a day or two, please ask again.

Happy New Year, Free Republic! It’s going to be a fun year!

I’d like to start a ‘moderator’ ping list. Many of you have requested that we do this, but because of time constraints, it hasn’t been done. So, if you want to be on a moderator ping list, let me know. We can use it for ‘zot’ threads as well. I’ll start it tonight by keeping a list.

I want be on that list, please.

It used to be that on slow news days we would have 400-post threads when some guy shoots off his testicle in an argument with his best friend.

I miss the good old days too!

FoxNews reported that the troops overseas on duty would get grape or grapefruit drink tonite for toasting.

Let's all raise a toast to them during our celebrating.

Let's all batten down the hatches. This election year is going to get wild before the results of the 2004 election are finalized. Look for a mass liberal media blitz against GWB as we watch the Dem9 devour each other.

Let us also toast all those responsible for keeping us save and secure. We have no idea how many potential terrorist attacks have been prevented by those in HS, FBI, CIA, NSA, and many local LE agencies.

Let us be kind to the Dems as they panic and find themselves running in circles looking for 'the issue' to attack GWB. Maybe the stock market will stall around 13,289 and they can dig that it didn't hit 13,300. Maybe Saddam will keep his mouth shut and not spill about the locations of WMD's. Maybe Syria won't be intimidated by Libya's 'surrender' to GWB and the WoT. Maybe another mad cow will be found [not intended to be a dig at Hillary--shame on you for thinking that]. Maybe, but if not, the meltdown will be worth watching. Let us hope everyone has extra bags of popcorn and cola for those special Dem meltdown sessions. I think we'll see several in the next few months.

Let us raise a toast to FR for allowing us to vent at times and feel apart of greatness at others. To those who FReeped together those long nites that we were live together as the troops went after al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, and we were priviledged to watch via the embedded reporters our the troops stalled at the giant sandstorm in Iraq, but then continuing their missions to Bagdad and other areas--live, we watched, and we went with Greg Kelly (FoxNews) live into Saddam's palace as our troops secured it and opened it up for us see, and cried together as the space shuttle disintegrated, or chased the 'two white guys in a white van' through the Washington DC area with Chief Moose.

Let's hope the allnighters to come are for the greater good.

Your ping list is going to be awful large. Why not just create a "ZOT" category for the sidebar menu?

Did you catch this thread today? I always enjoyed the occasional DUhmmy thread and am appreciative when one gets to stay up. I see no harm in exposing the enemy and having a few laughs at their expense.
