KERRY APOLOGIZES FOR "DIAPERS" REMARK

U.S. Sen. John Kerry called U.S. Sen. John Edwards late Sunday night to apologize for suggesting Edwards might have been in diapers when he returned from Vietnam, aides to Edwards said.

While campaigning in Iowa Sunday, Kerry was asked how he differed from Edwards. Kerry touted his foreign policy experience and said that when he returned home after serving in Vietnam in 1969, "I don't even know if John Edwards was out of diapers."

Edwards responded Sunday evening before a stop in Mason City that drew an overflow crowd.

"I honor his service in Vietnam," Edwards said. "In 1969, I was sitting around the kitchen table with my parents trying to figure out how we would pay for college like so many Iowans do. ... And that is a difference between me and Senator Kerry."

Edwards attended Clemson University and then transferred to N.C. State when he could not get a football scholarship. Kerry attended prep schools and Yale University.

Edwards spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri said Kerry called Edwards to apologize and that Edwards accepted. --John Wagner

That was a good comeback, i must say - at least on a politcal level. he took an insult in spun it into a pandering golden soundbite. The original statement highlights Kerry's arrogance.

This is a pretty cheap shot.

Kerry was born in 1943, and Edwards was born in 1953.

In 1969, Edwards was hardly in diapers.

Have you seen anything about John F-N Kerry's video gaffe where he mimed smoking a joint for the cameras on his recent campaign tour with Peter of Peter, Paul, and Mary?

That picture of Kerry with John Lennon is a fake anyway.
If you blow it up you can see the pixilation where his face was placed over somebody elses face, who happened to have similer hair.

Late Night With Conan O'Brien has been getting back at Hillary for her lengthy joke about Gandhi operating a gas station by having "Gandhi" come out from behind the curtain and hurl a few personal jokes at Hillary (several times an episode).

I don't understand the insult. Everybody was in diapers at the beginning of our lives (and some of us end up back in them on the other side of life). Even if Edwards was born in, say, 1966, and was still in diapers when Kerry came back from Vietnam, then what was Kerry expecting to gain by pointing that out? Were people supposed to vote for him over Edwards on that basis? I don't get it.
