FAKE "2nd photo" of Kerry-Fonda at rally

Hey, Freepers: I don't know who PhotoShopped that fake "2nd photo" of Kerry and Fonda at the antiwar rally, but you should know that you came within AN EYELASH of causing a huge embarassment.

Thank goodness Raoul made a phone call, so Kristinn just got a call from somebody who is a longtime press friend of FR who was about to go nationwide with the "2nd photo" story. You've got no idea how close this was to being a train wreck.

I am told NewsMax actually got suckered on this.

The same veterans who had circulated the original Fonda-Kerry photo apparently got hold of the PhotoShop fake and didn't know it was a joke. So when these veterans contacted the press Thursday morning claiming to have a second photo -- man! A lot of valuable time was wasted as reporters contacted Associated Press trying to verify the existence of this fake photo.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful with this kind of stuff.

The first thing I noticed in the bogus photo of Fing K on stage with the Commie Fonda, was that the Kerry pose was one of someone in a sitting position, not someone standing.

Actually, that's Kerry in the original photo. It was "Hanoi Jane" that was dropped in.

I'm a trusting person. So sue me. I'm also somewhat of a "newbie" so I don't know "Registered", or his propensity to post doctored pictures looking like they were from a newspaper.
I have touted this website to my friends and family. I believe in it. I just hope I don't turn out to look like a sucker, like whoever posted the picture today at Newsmax did.

There were two other Kerry threads last night where the photo appeared. We had the moderator remove them.

Registered had posted the pic without mentioning where he got it. It was a good fake, but raised suspicions when no source for the original photo was given. He had the photo looking like it was cut from a newspaper article. Evidently he now has his name on the photo.

I was surprised when some Freepers said we should circulate the photo anyway. There is so much good stuff out there on Kerry, I don't know why anyone would use a fake purposely and hurt Free Republic's reputation. Hopefully, this word is out on this phony photo showing Jane and John on stage together.

Also check the resolutions. It is almost impossible to retain a consistent pixel pattern when combining web-pics. If you can zoom in close, chances are you can find the discrepancy.

I saw that pic, posted on the FR thread. It struck me immediately as suspicious. Good catch on this.

Now, if someone is planting disinformation in the form of photos, is it possible that 'they' are also planting faked stories (RE. The Drudge affair story).

One, Never take anything off the internet unless you have a verified source. Second, each forum has 'regulars' that most are aware of. If it looks 'too good' or looks 'suspicious' be wary. Email the poster if you want more info.

Let me revise what I said. In FReepmail he implied that he created the pic, that he posted it intentionally knowing it would be mistaken as authentic, and that there was a purpose other than parody behind it. Maybe he was lying to me. Maybe he was lying to you. Who knows.

I think this was Registered's photo but I have not been able to find it (it has been pulled every time it gets posted).

The LA Time DID run a photoshopped composite image of a soldier in Iraq (with refugees) in a way that made it appear that the man was stopping an approaching man and child and having his weapon drawn.

Digital photography means that you can't trust your own eyes anymore.

I've been trying to put people on the path to possible film footage of Kerry and Fonda (there is the possiblity that they both appear in the supressed but bootlegged film, FTA - F*** The Army). There may also be federal surveilance footage of Kerry and Fonda together. Moving images would disprove photoshop tricks.

See this is what I mean, Yes we know CBS and the other major networks are biased but there are plenty who take them as the truth.(not many follow news and politics in this country and you know that is a fact. There are plenty of people who only watch the nightly news on one of the top 3 channels if at all. That media is geared to keeping the dumbed down. I am sorry you are not aware of that.
