Psalm 124: 1-3, 8
Father, we bring before You tonight President Bush, and ask that You continue to be on his side. We see the vicious attacks against him, and anger flared against him, and ask that You might protect him from those attacks. Keep him dependent upon You and Your word. Keep him faithful in the disciplines of prayer and study, and in seeking Your presence daily. Be with him and protect him, granting him wisdom beyond human knowledge and understanding. Thank You that he spoke the truth tonight with clarity and strength, and we ask, dear Lord that the American people might see in him the integrity of one who follows Your precepts, and tells the truth. We ask that they might be given the understanding of what is really happening in Iraq in spite of the media lies and distortions.
Be with Laura, as well, dear Father, and help her to be the kind of wife that You would have her be. Protect her as she travels, and bless their marriage as they serve God together. Lord, we ask as well for the protection of Barbara and Jenna, and that they might seek Your guidance for their lives, and become the women of God that You would have them be.
We ask special protection for our troops who are serving in harm's way, that they might feel Your presence and comfort among them. Ease their loneliness and sense of loss for their families and loved ones, and of their families for them. Keep them safe under the shelter of Your wing, we pray.
And finally dear Lord, we pray for each member of the House and Senate. During this election year the vitriol seems deeper and uglier than it has in the past, and we ask that the American people might know what the truth is about those running for office. We ask that You might bind Satan as he seeks to muddy and confuse the issues, and to seek to destroy the values and morality of this nation.
Father, we confess that we as a nation have strayed far from Your laws, and we ask forgiveness. Bring us, as Americans to our knees in repentance and confession for missing the mark of Your perfect will. Help those of us who name the Name of Jesus Christ be bold in our witness, for we know that the only real peace, the only real joy, and the only real love come through Your Son and His blood shed on the cross for our sins, and it is through the name of Jesus that we pray, Amen.
Please join us in prayer tonight for our President, our troops and our nation!

So many people lie and manipulate the truth about our President. Please close the ears of the people who hear these lies and manipulations, so they only hear the truth. Please make the truth so clear that people can't help but see it.
Thank you for blessing our country with our wonderful President and his family and administration, and especially thank you for the troops who are serving throughout the world.
In the following weeks we ask that the good news from Iraq would be prominent in the news. We ask for your protection over everyone who is serving there. Let Your love shine through every Christian who is over there, and YOUR will be done.
Amen!
May God grant our President and our troops the confidence and guidance to the job they need, and may the Holy Spirit save them from difficult times.

A Prayer for a Battle-Weary Commander-in-Chief
Lord, protect our President
from unexpected assaults at home
that attempt to divert his attention
from the unwanted conflict abroad.
While our sons and daughters serve in Iraq,
our brother George is under attack.
He is the victim of less-than-friendly fire.
Be near Mr. Bush, Father,
as the war of words deflects the focus
from the frontlines to the front page
and to who's out front in the polls.
Please give him the ability to look to You
as he does his best in this ultimate test against terrorism.
Equip him with a non-combative spirit
as he defends himself and his staff
against misguided media missiles.
Remind him, Lord, there are millions who stand up for him
as they kneel beside their beds at night
and pray for Your hand to guide him.
May such knowledge energize his efforts today.
Won't You keep him from discouragement,
self-doubt and battle fatigue?
As a godly pastor once prayed,
Give him the ability
to accept the things he cannot change,
courage to change the things he can

And may it be so with our precious sons and daughters who defend life and liberty for us, and for others. May our prayers on their behalf form a shield around each one, protecting them from harm. We covet their safety unto the time of sweet return to the love of family and friends. Greatly You have blessed us with these fine young men and women ... we praise Your Holy Name.
May Your hand of protection continue to rest upon these United States. Give us wisdom and success in rooting out those who would harm and hinder, for we desire a return to the Godly principles that our founding fathers derived from You. Lord, these are difficult times, times in which only you are in control. This nation is riven to its core, and acrimony is high.
Please grant to the president wisdom not only to know what to do, but also what to say to convey the vision America must follow. Grant to the troops good success and a safe and early exit. Grant to the Iraqis, Afghans, and others the understanding that they have a unique historical opportunity before them to achieve a free society.
Most of all, use these circumstances to advance your Gospel, the only means by which men can be free. Father God, our strength lies only in basing our structures and our lives upon your Word. America is implicity, and even explicitly, a Christian nation, and when she abandons her roots she places herself in peril. Let her be a beacon to other people, that the winsome virtues of your Gospel would shine forth. May souls be saved and lives changed.
Do it all for your glory, and that of your Son.
