Gay Day at Six Flags Over Texas September 18th , 2004

Gay Day at Six Flags Over Texas September 18th , 2004

September 18 is the 9th Annual Gay Day at Six Flags Over Texas. This event has taken place for the last 8 years in a row and this is the 9th year. This event is sponsored by a homosexual newspaper called The Dallas Voice and advertised as "Gay Day at Six Flags," in established homosexual publications like Texas Triangle, QTexas and many highly trafficked websites. Due directly to this form of advertising, thousands of homosexuals attend this event from all over Texas. "Gay Day at Six Flags" takes place one day prior to the Gay Pride Parade in Oak Lawn which itself brings in tens of thousands of people. Many of the people in town for the Gay Pride Parade also attend "Gay Day at Six Flags."

When families attend Six Flags Over Texas on Saturday, September 18th, they will not be informed about "Gay Day at Six Flags," nor the thousands of homosexuals in attendance. It will be a total shock when they realize they are waiting in line for one hour at a time with flamboyant homosexuals embracing one another and kissing.

If you call Six Flags Over Texas and ask them if they are having Gay Day they will tell you "No, Six Flags does not sponsor a Gay Day," knowing that they allow the homosexual community to advertise the event as "Gay Day at Six Flags." They still will not tell you. Therefore, Six Flags Over Texas is willingly allowing families and children to be exposed to homosexual activities without giving them any warning.

Families and children have the right and deserve to know about "Gay Day at Six Flags" so that they can make an informed decision as to rather they want to attend Six Flags Over Texas on that day. Six Flags Over Texas has a responsibility to inform families and children about "Gay Day at Six Flags." It is a family park and families sustain Six Flags business throughout the year.

Thanks, MeekO!

Here is my letter of concern to the owners of Six Flags Over America:

_______________________________

Walt Disney Productions and Walt Disney world now realize that the day their corporation began it’s nosedive into financial reversal was the day they sponsored “Gay Pride Day” at Disney World. I know many families that have never gone back either to Disney World or Disney Land because of that and the “Family Image” that once was ever-so-sterling to the world has forever been tarnished.

Disney is no longer associated with wholesomeness and by sponsoring “Gay Day” events has lost the trust of The American Family.

Six Flags Over Texas has long been a viable alternative for families in the South and Southeastern part of the United States to visit on annual vacations even above the once highly regarded vacation destination of Florida and Disney World. Many are now concerned and alarmed that Six Flags Over Texas is now embarking on the same ill-advised and family-hostile path that the Disney Corporation has done by also embracing and becoming the sponsors of “Gay Day at Six Flags Over Texas.”

Please be very cautious about making such hasty decisions based on the potential of additional revenues generated by the homosexuals and lesbians that would frequent such events. These individuals in even the most liberal estimates represent no more than two percent of the entire American population.

Are the executives and owners of Six Flags Over Texas prepared for the financial fallout that will result in pandering to segments of the population considered by the majority of parents in this country undesirable to have associate with their children – let alone pay for the privilege while they are on quality time on expensive vacations.

Reconsider. Your careers at Six Flags Over Texas is at stake.

Thank you.

A Concerned Father and Grandfather and Citizen Activist Against The Gay and Lesbian Agenda In America

If the KKK advertises "Racist Day at Six Flags", Six Flags would sue them for using their name. Wake up.

Using the name of a company is hardly a crime. Disney, Six Flags, SeaWorld are proper nouns, describing a place.

If your business is centered around providing a service to the public, you are fair game. Heck, even if you do nothing but rent cars. If the neo-Nazi's want to convene at your business place, you have a choice. You can either deny them entrance into your establishment (and be sued for discrimination), you can do your best to ignore them (and be called a Nazi supporter), or you can advertize the neo-Nazi meetings as a warning to your other customers, and then be labelled as a Neo-Nazi supporter.

If I publically state that I am meeting ANYWHERE, no crime has been committed. Especially if a company can be shown to have publicized their location. What crime would you charge these people with?

I never said it was okay or that I approved, just that the article is wrong. I worked there for four seasons. I remember many of the male employees calling in sick on gay day every year.

Oh, and the favored ride wasn't the log ride (LOL, good guess though for whoever posted that)... 'twas the cave. Not sure what it is called these days. Back then it was spelunker's cave.

Disney has AMPLE power to warn.

And exactly 'how' would you warn that a group of people are going to be attending your park? If Disney said "The Hansen family reunion will be going on during these dates .......", and you took offence at this, you can sue for defamation. At the least, your company (by virtue of acknowleging the gathering) is now shown as supporting and 'sponsoring' the event.

Disney is in the 'family entertainment' business. They know this, but they also have a legal department. They cannot prevent a gathering of customers, they can (and to the best of my knowlege actually do) enforce rules and conduct guidelines for EVERYONE in the park.

Hypothetically, if you own a resturant; and neo-Nazi's show up. If you deny them service, you are discriminating. If you publish, you are going to be associated as condoning or (at worst) supporting that group. What you CAN do, is control the behavior of this group while on your property. But that is about it.

The Gay Day would be a day that you might not want to allow your 5 year old boy to use the men's bathrooms since homosexuals tend to use public bathrooms for their own reasons. It would seem better to inform the public --- let people make their own decisions.

Six Flags used to be a FAMILY place.

And they will go out of their way to state emphatically that they STILL ARE a family place. Six Flags has church groups go through, they have school tours, they even have corporate sponsor nights. However, if a group of undesireables decides to descend upon the public park; there is NOTHING that they can do. They CAN control the behavior of the undesireables (no nudity, drunken behavior, line cutting, abuse, ect). They may prevent a 'parade' of the groups; and will monitor how the group conducts themselves.

Freedom of association means that any group may go to any public place, with or without warning. I sincely doubt you will find Six Flags advertizing Gay Day on their website, on a road sign, or even at the front gate. This is a gathering promoted and set up by various Gay organizations. Six Flags just happens to be the unfortunate target. Given a choice, I'm certain that Six Flags would just as soon pass on the extra ticket sales for that day, and have a usual day; as frankly, this type of thing does not boost the image Six Flags works so hard to present to the public.

Why not warn people --- even as someone suggested if certain religious groups were having a meeting there that day --- maybe you don't want to be handed the Watchtower if it's Jehovah Witness Day --- but you could decide for yourself and your own family. It's not just Gay Day --- but what if you'd rather not bring your family on Sadists day or whatever else?

Disney embraces homosexuality throughout the company, almost certainly has more homosexual employees per capita than any other major company in the world. Do a little research about what it's really like behind the masks and behind the stages of Disney World.

...And Disney's doing how well lately? Just ask Eisner.

Sometimes choices must be made. It is important to know which guide is best.

Should Six Flags inform non-religious types when a church group holds an informal, non-sponsored gathering?

Big difference. The normal religious organization does not prey on your children.

Thank you for the ping..

I live just up the road! I haven't attended 6flags
in years because it is full of gang bangers and
thugs wandering around harrassing girls and loudmouthing
and cursing...it is horrible...like South Los Angeles
in Arlington.

I'll be sure and pass this around, and let 6flags know how I feel.

It used to be a historical park. Now it's all cartoon crap.
I remember all the wonderful days I spent there w my parents when I was little...how inccocent and wonderful it was...and it makes me sad to remember and see what it has become..just like my old neighborhood...dead.

They can neither sponsor, nor truly prevent this behavior from happening.

Technically they could enforce Texas' criminal statutes on public lewdness and use them as a basis to expell these persons from the park. I suspect that Florida has similar laws that would permit Disney to do the same thing.

Disney has some sort of deal with the state of Florida that allows Disney to do its own law enforcement. They almost never have any outside law enforcement officers one their premises
