I am doing some research on the NEW MEDIA. There used to be a thread on here that had some history about how Free Republic started. But I can't for the life of me find it in the archives.
If any of you have links or knowledge on the subject I would surely appreciate if you would post them in this thread.
I have several friends and customers (I FReep in my place of business) who want more info on this site. Further, I also have been asked to give a talk to a local community group about the New Media so I need to get on the ball, and get it all ready in time for the talk.

In the early days we had a lib named ASH. Dickie Morris was a freeper then also. Drudge was unknown, but linked, and then 3 years into it all we had a "March for Justice"!

Wow. That would slow down the pace...posting by way of punchcards. Checking back 5 hours later to find an error with card #1372, resubmitting the cards and finding an error on card #2331 three hours later...repeat 5 more times, post entered one day later and everyone forgetting what the subject of the thread was. Then go out and have another beer.
