The day before the debate while Senator Kerry was preparing for the debate President Bush was visting in a walking tour damaged orange groves in hurricane ravaged Florida. The next day and the day of the debate he comforted more victims saying, "in the parking lot of the Martin County chapter of the Red Cross. "We care when a neighbor hurts.""
Senator Kerry visited the day after the debate and according to the Kerry Campaign webpage had not made either a compassionate visit or campaign appearance since 9-27-04. He did have a manicure the day of the debate, however.

Bush Comforts Hurricane Victims in Fla.(Wednesday 9-29-04)
"....On Wednesday, Bush's tour took him to orange groves battered by three of the four hurricanes that hit the state in recent weeks. Most of the fruit still dangled from the trees, but some littered the ground.
Three layers of decaying oranges told the story: The darkest fruit, shriveled and black, had been left by the first storm, Hurricane Charley; yellow fruit was left by Frances; and green fruit had been stripped from trees just days ago by Jeanne.
"These have been trying weeks for Americans across the Southeast, especially in this state," Bush said after surveying damage to a central Florida farm that has had about one-fourth of its business blown away by storm damage. "Our nation is praying for the victims of these storms."

Treasure Coast residents again had the honor of a visit by President Bush after the indignity of a visit by a hurricane.
Bush stopped in Stuart Thursday morning, greeting Hurricane Jeanne victims and volunteers only hours before taking the stage for his first debate against Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry in Coral Gables.
"These volunteers show the true heart of America, because we're a compassionate people," Bush said in the parking lot of the Martin County chapter of the Red Cross. "We care when a neighbor hurts."
He thanked "the leaders who have shown strength and composure during difficult times."
The visit, which lasted 90 minutes and did not include a tour of the damage, came only three weeks after Bush's visit to Fort Pierce in the wake of Hurricane Frances.
It also came as many storm victims complained of slow response from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and a drastic shortage of tarps to cover the thousands of leaky roofs in the area.
But Bush urged patience with FEMA and other groups.
"Hurricanes Frances, Charley, Ivan and Jeanne have strained the resources of many relief organizations," he said.
Red Cross trucks were positioned behind Bush, but they may have been there for effect; the trucks were gone a half-hour after he spoke.
Bush arrived at 9:25 a.m. at Stuart's Witham Field in a gleaming olive-colored H-60 helicopter. He was whisked to a FEMA disaster-recovery center, where he chatted with volunteers and doled out hugs and kisses to hurricane victims looking for federal aid.
Amy Elizabeth Gayle cried when Bush embraced her and kissed on the forehead. The president then greeted Joseph Campo, who lost his mobile home and was sitting at a table applying for help from the Small Business Administration.
"He isn't my favorite guy," Campo, 78, said after Bush left the room.
But what did he think of Bush's visit?
"It's great," Campo said...."

I feel sorry for people who can't understand the importance of character in our elected officials. To me there is just no comparison between the two presidential candidates. You either vote for integrity or against it.
And here is what President Bush did AFTER THE DEBATE:
Bush lights up stage
President discusses war and economy
By Joel Moroney
News Journal
MANSFIELD -- President Bush spoke about the economy on the Renaissance Theatre stage.
Backstage, he cried during an emotional and private meeting with the family of Army Spc. A.J. Vandayburg, who was killed in Iraq on April 9.
"He cried right with us and it was like the exclamation point on our whole year," said A.J.'s father, Mansfield police Lt. Allen Vandayburg. "He cried with my wife. He cried with my daughter. He hugged us. It wasn't president versus cop. It was father to father."
Allen Vandayburg, wife Chantil and daughter Taylor, 12, were ushered in to see Bush, who sent everyone out of the room, including his press staff and Secret Service agents, Allen Vandayburg said.
Vandayburg said he never was asked about his political leanings or his feelings about the war.
"To me, that was impressive," Allen Vandayburg said. "I got to meet the person. I didn't meet the president. I met the person and the person was genuine."
Allen Vandayburg had just one favor of the president: See the war through to a proper finish.
"I told him it's not your fault ... but don't let our men and women over there die in vain."
Allen Vandayburg said the president knew A.J.'s brother, Marine Pfc. Christopher Vandayburg, has volunteered to go to Iraq in January.
"He shook his head. I think somehow he feels responsible for sending our kids over there," said Allen Vandayburg. He said the president was in no hurry to end the 15-minute meeting, despite a hectic schedule and a pressing campaign stop in northeast Ohio. "We'd end the conversation and he'd pick it up again."

Here's the reality that brain-dead dems don't see --
Whatever justifications Kerry demands of Bush, he's not going to get.
The truth is, WE know that the prez isn't going to be able to tell us the WHOLE story in a time of war.
WE know that when the future of our nation is at stake, sometimes other counties are going to have to suffer, and they're not going to be happy about it, but tough tiffy -- at the end of the day, it's us or them.
WE know that the war on terror, including (YES, INCLUDING) Iraq, requires some major sacrifices both on our part and on the part of our so-called allies.
WE know that the terrorists would LOVE Kerry to be in charge because they can reason with him. Bush is like a mad bear -- and that's just what we need to take on an enemy that cuts off heads for fun.
And there you have a piece of logic that even the brightest debater isn't going to be able to asnwer.
Thanx for this post.
I have been feeling down and depressed with the stupid media hype for Kerry. It's good to see some folks understand what our President has to do and how he relates to folks, just as people, not as voters.
Just had a call from a new, young volunteer, too! That helped my mood a lot, as well.
They always pay for it sooner or latter, unfortunately with the rest of us. Clinton "kick the can down the road" policy set conditions that let Osama succeed on the 9/11 attack.
Ping (read the article excerpt in Post #3 -- our President is such a compassionate man!)!!!
Another clue if people looked.
After reading the hysterical tripe on FR the last 2 days, I've almost concluded that we simply don't deserve George W Bush as our president -- quite frankly, I don't know why he puts up with it or many of us!!!!
What's that supposed to mean?
Kerry was holed up in Spring Green WI which is a beautiful area of SW Wisconsin that he's now despoiled. Probably wrote up his crib sheets there and had his nails done.
Bush was doing the peoples work, a phrase that actually has meaning once again, after Clinton used it as a euphemism for intern-bonking.
Substance wins over style, providing people are allowed to see the difference.
That's a ridiculous post. I expected Bush to be rested and ready for this debate. Does that mean I don't deserve him? After watching that I started thinking does he really deserve us? Honestly. I was out there all last weekend, as were thousands of others across the country. We are doing our part, he didn't do his. Sorry. That's how I feel. This is too important for him to get comfortable. If it meant not going out and seeing hurricane victims until the next day, I don't see how that would have been so horrible. Sue me.
Read some of OhGeorgia's posts and you'll understand!
In the last year and a half I have put up with Mike in Iraq and listening day after day to the MSM, rats, etc.. tell me that what he was doing was wrong and meaningless...Im sick of it....Im going down fighting ..the RNC called earlier and a gave another small donation....if we fail in Nov, so be it...I will be done with politics and hoping for the best for America...I will lead my life in a vacuum knowing that America got what they deserved....sorry for the rant.
Quite frankly, I find your post ridiculous -- shall we have a contest?! [Can you tell I'm in no mood for diplomacy?!]
BTW: I was among the thousands working last weekend, this weekend and a zillion other weekends!
I'm right there with you!!!! [And it's going to be a helluva fight!!!]
Or if they take the trouble to look.
Americans always deserve the ideal leadership and corresponding to human frailties, always get something less. That's what a democratic republic is all about. Our leaders are not gods. I refuse to kowtow to anyone. That makes me a proud American. We elect human beings to office, and we expect them to be imperfect. That's why we change leaders from time to time!
The slaker kerry has not been at work in the Senate for 6 months now, he's just campaigning. While President Bush has been leading the country, in wartime, and natural disaster, and campaigning.
