QUESTION: WHAT SHOULD BE THE FOCUS FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS? ANSWER: TORT REFORM!

Posted on 11/03/2004 2:22:35 PM PST by TortReformer

THE TOP PRIORITIES FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS:

1. APPOINT 3-4 CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES TO THE SUPREME COURT.

2. REFORM CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS

3. PROTECT GUN MAKERS AND THE FAST FOOD INDUSTRY FROM JUNK LAWSUITS

4. ATTEMPT TO PROTECT HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS (UNLIKELY, BUT WE CAN TRY)

5. LASTLY, NOT RELATED TO TORT REFORM, BUT WE NEED A NATIONAL SALES TAX...

A well-crafted motion for summary judgment is all the tort reform you will ever need.

I'll second that.

No other single reform can do so much good.

I'm sure the lawyer class doesn't agree. But screw'em.

"WHAT SHOULD BE THE FOCUS FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?"

Hypothesizing on Hillary's run in 2008, naturally.

:)

Tort reform and tax reform. Tax reform is #1: Consumption, consumption, consumption. Am I being repetitive?

Yes to all but 5.

National Sales tax scares me. Idealistically, I agree. One problem...econemy tanks, the Fed is not collecting taxes to run gov't...what do they do? Bring back income tax and they will leave the sales tax in as well. BIG PROBLEMS with this one.

How about a National one-rate tax...simple form...how much did you earn...send it in.

5. LASTLY, NOT RELATED TO TORT REFORM, BUT WE NEED A NATIONAL SALES TAX...

Wrong. We need to eliminate the income tax. Then, and only then, when the government no longer has a method to bring in money, do we add another NEW tax.

Never trust a government when installing a new tax. Remember, the income tax itself was sold as a temporary measure, to be limited only to the ultra wealthy.

Personally, since we're doing economicly better than any people on the face of the planet has ever done, I don't think I'd screw with success.

Just sell it to Mexico. They're laying claim to it all any way.
