Billie

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_Bear, dutchess, dansangel, Aquamarine ~

It's three days past Christmas, and there are two pieces of fudge, a half piece of pecan pie, and four broken gingerbread men cookies left.....oh, and Aunt Martha's fruitcake. Still in the spirit of giving, I want to share it with you, my Finest FRiends.
Can someone please bring coffee?

THIS WEEK'S THREADS

Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

I know. That's why I keep pushing that thought to the back of my mind. I hope and pray it never comes to that!

'Tis a drug and I'm *hooked*!

Afternoon, Billie.

Any fruitcake left? I love fruitcake - only nowdays I seem to get indigestion from them. Must be the old age factor.

Mom used to make 'em (without rum). All my siblings could count on one under the tree. She retired from making 'em a few years ago.

Spending time with a new toy - an adapter for my scanner to scan slides. Tons of old slides dating back to my Navy days. This is gonna be fun.

Have a great day, Y'all.

Hi Billie. What a cute thread today! Love the opening picture (LOL) and the gingerbread border and the host/hostess greeting is way too sweet! However, I will pass on the fruitcake :o)

I can't imagine being told that I can't have chocolate (or teddy bears!) any more. Although I am trying to prepare for the worst as my Dad and sister are both diabetic. :-(

But have they been diabetics for a long time? I don't know what causes it. :(

WOW! Another fruitcake lover! Though, in all fairness, I can eat it if it's mostly full of nuts and not candied fruit. :)

Hmmmm, so now you will be able to put slides on your pc?! Neat!

Thanks, sistah! Today's post was a last-minute "YIKES! What am I gonna post today?" thread! Got lucky with Google this morning finding the cute fruitcake pic - thought I'd have to use a plain ole' fruitcake picture. :)

You have regular mail and FR mail. :)

My Dad has been taking drugs for diabetes for about 12 years and my sister for about 6 or 7 years.

I have no idea what causes it to come on later in life, but I hope I take after my Mom and avoid it altogether.

Just got through having my nightcap of a small cup of M&Ms. :-)

Gladys Dunn was new in town and decided to visit the church
nearest to her new apartment. She appreciated the pretty
sanctuary and the music by the choir. But the sermon went
on and on. Worse, it wasn't at all interesting.

Glancing around, she saw many in the congregation nodding
off. Finally it was over.

After the service, she turned to a still sleepy-looking
gentleman next to her, extended her hand and said, "I'm
Gladys Dunn."

He replied, "You and me both!"

A Jewish businessman in Chicago sent his son to Israel for a year to absorb the culture.
When the son returned, he said, "Papa, I had a great time in Israel. By the way, I converted to Christianity." "Oy vey," said the father, "What have I done?"
He took his problem to his best friend. "Ike," he said, "I sent my son to Israel, and he came home a Christian. What can I do?"
"Funny you should ask," said Ike. "I, too, sent my son to Israel, and he also came home a Christian. Perhaps we should go see the rabbi."
They explained their problem to the rabbi.
"Funny you should ask," said the rabbi. "I, too sent my son to Israel, and he also came home a Christian. What is happening to our young people?" They prayed, telling the Lord about their sons. As they finished their prayer, a voice came from the heavens:
"Funny you should ask," said the voice.
"I, too, sent my son to Israel..."
