F***ing with Freepers: Sex catapults me to the big time
Creative Loafing (Atlanta) ^ | 1/13/05 | CLIFF BOSTOCK

Posted on 01/14/2005 7:57:27 AM PST by madprof98

Woo hoo! I've made the big time. Last month, the website Free Republic featured a thread about my Nov. 18 column, "Queers Who Don't Act Right." You probably don't know much about Free Republic unless you are a right-wing lunatic. Free Republic is so far right that wing-nut gay muckraker Matt Drudge and Lucianne Goldberg, one of the architects of the Clinton-Monica Lewinsky brouhaha, both left the site in 1999 because it was too extreme, even for them.

In the years since, the site has become the contemporary version of a marathon meeting of the old John Birch Society and the KKK. Most recently, Free Republic was in the news when John Corsi, one of the Swift Boat Veterans who authored a book attacking John Kerry, turned out to post embarrassingly racist messages there. (Of course, he argued his racist insults were all "a joke." Talk about your Clintonian rhetoric.) The site also was in the news recently because someone correctly posted that Dan Rather had relied on phony documents to impute President Bush's National Guard service.

Free Republic is so extreme that it's a blast to read. Don't bother to explore the site with the idea of posting an alternative perspective or to correct facts. Your post will simply be deleted, despite its owner's celebration of freedom of speech. The site has no hesitation in reprinting copyrighted material, like my column, even though the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times both successfully sued to stop such theft. In other words, as is generally true of the lunatic far right, the truth, free speech and the law only matter when they support their point of view.

Of course, Freepers, as the creepy wing-nuts on the site are called, were not alone in being outraged by my column. I received quite a lot of mail, mainly from other gay people, questioning my argument that LA Fitness at Ansley Mall overreacted when it closed its sauna because of some occasional sex and reopened it with a new picture window overlooking the locker room. As an update, I might add that the window has effectively eliminated unseen sexual interactions inside the sauna and made room for another, more open form of sex between people on either side of the window: exhibitionism and voyeurism.

Most of my correspondents argued that the occasional discovery of sex in the sauna merited involvement by the police and the health department, reconstruction of the sauna and a report by one of the local TV stations. And, as usual, they concluded that because I called that overreacting, I must favor sex in public spaces. No matter that I said I find the behavior annoying. To be righteous, I must find it -- what? -- criminally actionable.

I wasn't surprised by the reaction. Sex troubles people more than anything. That's why Clinton was impeached for lying about a blowjob, while Bush was re-elected despite lying about a war that has killed thousands. Gay people's oppression is the result of their sex lives, so it's not surprising that they are hypersensitive to anything that might add to the picture of deviance. But it has become obvious that the very effort to make all deviance disappear and to assimilate -- to marry, for example -- increases prejudice.

The Freepers, of course, took outrage over my column to dizzy heights, fabricating arguments I did not make. This began with the man who posted it, "madpro98." He said that I dismissed "all sexual conventions, including common decency, as so much homophobia." Actually, I wrote no such thing. Then, of course, the Freepers concluded that the case of LA Fitness means every gay man is a sauna whore. For example, "Sender" writes: "Does anyone else think it's strange that gay men often have sex in a public toilet stall? ... Even if we had unisex public restrooms, somehow I can't imagine a man and a woman eyeing one another while washing their hands, then just jumping in the stall for a go."

The writer obviously has never been to Buckhead on a Saturday night. But what cracks me up is that the Freepers are so anxious to bash someone like me that they don't even realize when they are supporting a contrary argument. For example, "buffyt" quoted my statement that I don't like "stumbling upon any sex scene to which I have not been invited." Then she riffed obsessively about heterosexual couples at Mardi Gras "coupling all over the place" while the police ignore them. Exactly. Heterosexuals spoil the view with public sexual interactions every bit as much as homosexuals, arguably more, when they can find a place to do it. Nobody followed up on that post, of course.

I'm not going to quote the mind-boggling illogics and endless sophomoric fag-bashing (despite arguing they aren't homophobic). But I will thank "Jack Black," who wrote: "I think this was very well written. He is writing for the audience of radical homosexuals as one, so I have trouble twisting my thoughts enough to get to his point of view, but I still think the writing is good." Kiss me, dude!

When ya gonna flee that socialist antigun stronghold?

Holding out for now, but the East of Canada is becoming simply unbearable. I'm starting to look into Alberta. Then, once I'm there, who knows, if Alberta goes, maybe with any luck it will join the United States, and will bring me along with them.

Interesting, but only for half a second. There will come a point when nobody cares to hear the ravings of Charles Manson. Similarly, the ravings of other wicked sociopaths will have little public interest. Eventually, the only Attention that any soul will hold dear will return a declaration of "I don't know you" to the wicked.

Why should the wicked be content to have fame among the public? Perhaps it's the nature of evil to want to waste time that could be spent on living life and improving God's Kingdom come. I note myself of recently that I give less time to infamy. Whomever revels in infamy will find that 15 minutes of fame is going to be cut shorter than a quarter of an hour to a moment of swift judgment...even by the public.

A lot of these eclectic PHDs are so obtuse and incomprehensible that they have discovered ordinary people will pay them a lot of money to sit and talk to them under the pretense of 'therapy'. Sounds like a great racket...the people think they feel better and the doc makes his Mercedes payment.

I'm convinced that the highest levels of education are often accompanied by increased stupidity.

It is not intellectual ability thet the left-wing lunatic fringe types lack, it is common sense and wisdom.

As said in Romans 1:22 ---- Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Well yes and as with all other male liberals, they'll never find out what's under the white sheet.

The rest of your example can't be too far behind.

I'll betcha they wouldn't let me marry my Strat -- or my sister, or my three closest friends. When people say they don't want the government to define marriage, they don't really mean it. What they mean is that they want the definition expanded to where they want it (which 999 times out of a thousand means to include gays), but not further.

"BS! If homosexuality was equivalent to heterosexuality it would be self-validating. It would not require the blessings of church and/or state to make them feel better."

As Rush pointed out yesterday, male behavior is very simple, they want approval and affirmation from their mates. This is biologically built into us, since the girls are the ones who choose who they mate with as we males compete for their attention. The queers on the other hand (pun intended!), are 2 boys looking for female approval and affirmation from each other and not getting it, and now think that state and church approval will be an acceptable substitute. They are wrong, as it still won't be an acceptable substitute to deep seated biological drives, but they are desperate.

Pretty much!

Though, just for kicks, I'd wander into New Paltz and ask to marry my computer.
Just to see how they respond.

well, if they are curious about what is under the hood, they could slake their curiosity by contemplating a mirror.

Creative Loafing is a free (still overpriced) gay publication that is distributed in the more liberal sections of town. I used to frequent (around 1986 time frame) a little record store in little five points called Wax-n-Fax because it had a great selection of import music (new and used). Creative Loafing was given away free in crummy vandalized boxes around the area.

I want to comment on the area that Creative Loafing was distributed in (mainly Little Five points). The area consisted of small shops that dealt with the occult, small alternative band bars, a pizza shop that had most of it's electrical outside wiring covered with shoes that were tied together by the shoestrings and tossed until they tangled on the wires. The area has flyers attached to everything that didn't move advertising everything for gay groups to communist party meetings to Goth music bash parties. People walked around with dyed hair colors of all black to punk doos. Prostitutes and druggie beggers are everywhere.

I future noticed that a camp located on Lookout Mountain (Cloudland GA) used the filth rag to advertise a lesbian gathering week on the mountain getaway. Our local paper had an article that opened a lot of people's eyes on the subject when this camp had an accident involving nude women. They didn't want to let the police chief in the "compound" to accompany the ambulance workers when a wagon overturned hurting some of the naked ladies. The compound was surrounded/protected by women (security) on 4-wheelers (whom I am told didn't like to shave, very butch). Anyhoo... the story got out and creative loafing was one of the ways the camp reached it target audience (because the area in which the camp was very remote and conservative).

I have had flipped through the gay oriented Creative Loafin just for curiosity. It was filled with huge personals of all kind of fetishes imagined. IMHO, this smut does not need to be freely distributed where youth can obtain it. It is akin to tossing out adult material from airplanes to fall into innocent children's hands.

BTW... The last time I went to Little Five Points on a recond hunting binge, I had my car filled with pepper spray (I had left the window cracked,it was hot). Thank goodness I had a alarm on the car or probable it would have been stolen (it is very hard to find parking nearby to the area even during the day). I got in my car and immediately noticed the stinging stinch of the spray. I rolled down my window and started driving like nothing was wrong, but 3 blocks I was crying, sweating, slobering, but I didn't stop until I was out of eyesight because I didn't want to give the jerks the satisfaction of knowing they had actually succeeded in upsetting me. I never went back to little five points, this article just reminded me if the warped culture in which it festers.

AS thought their King Clinton wasn't the actual architect. I love liberal-think; "It's always somebody's else's fault!"
