Gonzales pointed out that his brother Tony is a SWAT officer in Houston. "I worry about his safety and the types of weapons he will confront on the street," Gonzales said. "The president has made it clear that he stands ready to sign a reauthorization of the federal assault weapons ban if it is sent to him by Congress. I, of course, support the president on this issue."

Works for him I guess since he has access to security personel that will be allowed to have said Evil Black Rifles in various capacities...What a Douche-bag...

Disappointing behavior on the part of Mr. Gonzales. Even if it is not sincere, it still gives ammunition to the gungrabbers, and this is unnecessary -- we are winning the debate.

And not a single word in the article from a pro-2nd amendment/pro-liberty point of view. Just liberals versus ultra-liberals.

But he doesnt worry about the type of weapons that non-agents of the government might face on the street.
Let them shoot cakes, I guess.

Between Asscroft -- who was good on guns but virtually nothing else -- and Gonzalez, who's not even good on that.....
......man, I just don't know any more. This is OUR side, supposedly.

Why is this surprising. Bush is for it. Gonzales works for Bush. I'd be surprised if he said anything else.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised by it. It's more like rubbernecking.

Why is this surprising? Bush is for it. Gonzales works for Bush.As far as I could tell, Ashcroft was not a supporter of the AWB.

Wrong my friend. We are the pawns that they play for fools.
Reading the posts of Their defenders of this crap it is obvious they have most pegged correctly.

I don't remember him speaking on the issue at all. Since he worked for Bush, and Bush was for it, then I'd guess he'd be on Bush's side. I don't know.
I just don't understand why anyone is surprised at this. It's not as though Bush didn't make it clear how he felt.

Looks like Bush is pulling out all the stops because he knows he cannot be realected. So we have his administration pushing Pro-Illegal, Anti-Gun, Anti-Profiling, Pro La Raza types. But not to worry the supposed conservatives will be posting shorly about how even Gonzales's anti-Gun stance really isn't anti-gun.
