American Jihad?

On Sunday, January 16th, Hossam Armanious and his wife, Amal Garas were found brutally murdered in New Jersey. Armanious and Garas had been bound, stabbed and had had their throats slit. What made the crime particularly heinous was that their young daughters, Monica, 8, and Sylvia, 15, had been murdered in precisely the same manner.

The Armanious family was Coptic Christians, who had fled Egypt because of persecution by the Muslim majority. Hossam Armanious was particularly vocal on a Pal Talk forum discussing religion and he had personally "converted" several Muslims to Christianity through his witness. Or, had he?

At Jihad Watch (web site), it is theorized that one of the "converted" Muslim men appeared at the door and was eagerly welcomed in. The lack of an apparent break in and robbery supports this theory. Once inside, the jihadis did their dirty work, including an especially brutal slaying of the young Sylvia - who was repeatedly stabbed in the chest (her heart?) and had a Coptic cross which was tattooed on her wrist cut out of her skin.

The main stream media, hereafter known as the Stone Age Media (SAM), have ignored this sordid story in much the same way that they ignored the brutal torture and murder of a small boy by two homosexual men in Boston while at the same time trumpeting the murder of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming by two allegedly straight men. The Bostonian murders, like that of the Armanious' family, simply don't fit their template. In their bizarro-world, white, European, Christian, heterosexual men are to be blamed for all the crimes on Earth. All others are excused, by reason of "latent racism," 21st century "imperialism" or simply benighted policies.

Due to their worldview, the SAM and their liberal allies have now allied themselves with radical Islamofascism. It is unbelievable, but it is undeniable. The same enlightened folks that lecture us about women's rights now apparently support the burka, patrimonial laws and polygamy. Those who preach tolerance for the gay lifestyle now align themselves with those who would topple walls upon them. They have made common cause with vicious fascists who kidnap civilians and behead them on tape. They decried the alleged abuses at Abu Ghraib while simultaneously - and without apparent condemnation - displaying the burnt and dismembered corpses of American contractors on Fallujah bridges.

We are still at a crossroads. The populace has spoken, most vociferously in the recent election. Yet, the moral paragon Teddy Kennedy still sees fit to claim - idiotically - that, although "Democrats may be in the minority in Congress, nevertheless we speak for the majority of Americans." Intellectual giant Barbara Boxer feels free to pepper vastly qualified Secretary of State candidate Condoleeza Rice with ridiculous questions and then leave it up to Senator Robert Byrd (ex-Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan) to peevishly postpone her confirmation until after the Inauguration. An anti-terrorism rally in Berkeley is mobbed by a masked pro-Palestinian crowd, shouting, '2-4-6-8, we are martyrs, we can't wait." Past presidential candidate John Kerry tells a Martin Luther King, Jr. rally that "thousands of people had their votes suppressed" because the distribution of voting machines was uneven and some Democrats had to wait in line to vote. ABC news puts out a call to find out if there were any military funerals for those killed in Iraq scheduled for Inauguration Day.

Likewise, it is reasonable to expect that the intolerant wing of Islam has a hand in intolerant acts in America. Hossam Armanious' cousin is a translator in the case of radical lawyer Lynne Stewart - who is being prosecuted for allegedly smuggling documents to the prison cell of convicted killer Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman. Rahman is the "blind Sheikh", the mastermind of the first World Trade Center bombing. Could the brutal murder of the Armanious family be related? Or were they targeted for their religious beliefs? In America, where they had fled to be free?

When I was in college, I took a course on Islam. I still remember the professor; a woman, Iranian, fleeing the mullahs. Short, lithe, dark-haired - in a blouse, shortish skirt and ever- clicking high heels and tapping long nails. She was intelligent and intense, a believer and a questioner at once. In Iran, her kind, no doubt, were quickly eradicated by the Ayatolla and his minions. That certainly shouldn't happen here. It is up to us to make sure that it doesn't.
