Anniversary of Ronald Reagan's 94th Birthday:

• To honor President Ronald Reagan on the anniversary of his birthday, President George W. Bush has designated United States Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton to place a wreath on President Reagan’s gravesite on his behalf. Major General Timothy E. Donovan, Commanding General at Camp Pendleton, will conduct the ceremony, which will commence at 11:00 a.m. and will include a 21-gun salute. Camp Pendleton’s brass quintet will play music beginning at 10:45 a.m.

Following the ceremony, birthday cake will be served in the Library’s main lobby all day (while supplies last) and guests may sign memorial books that will be sent to the family.

All birthday-related events are free to attend; regular museum admission applies to visit the exhibit. All active military will be admitted into the museum for free on February 6th. Please bring current identification. Wednesday, February 9, 2005

First Day Issue Ceremony:

• On February 9, 2005, the Ronald Reagan Library will hold a celebration commemorating the first day issue of the new Ronald Reagan postage stamp. The Library will be the only location that the public may purchase the stamp and receive a "first-day-of-issue" cancellation. The program will begin at 10:00 a.m., with stamps available for purchase beginning at 9:00 a.m. R.S.V.P.s are required to attend the program. Please call 805-522-2977.

My 7 y.o. son is on a big Ronald Reagan binge.

Has the RR talking doll, calendars, quotes him at length.

Dead and buried Reagan's still a better President than a certain "bent one" could ever be.

God Bless you, Mr. President. Ronald Reagan was my favorite. Looks like he's President Bush's favorite, too. Ronald Reagan would be proud to see his vision continuing.

The USPS has a nice keepsake folio and first day cover to pre-order online (for those of us who can't get to the Reagan Library):

It might be worth it to go out and buy a sheet or two of this stamp and use it for your future mail.

I joined the Marine Corps during the Carter administration.

We were in sorry shape. Busted equipment, spare parts not available, all we had was the old 'Esprit de Corps'.

Ronaldus Magnus took office. We got new equipment. We got spare parts. We got a raise in pay!

Morale went up like a skyrocket.

I was proud to call Ronald Reagan my Commander in Chief.

Thank you very much, Mr. President. I didn't appreciate you when you were in office, but I certainly do now.

And after Clinton came in, it happened all over again. Damn sad what has become of the Democrat party. They used to care about our military. They used to care about defending this nation! "Used to's" just don't cut it.

Did you see Brian Lamb's interview with Dubya on C-Span? Bush named Reagan as his "mentor" on concepts of freedom and liberty. (The interview is listed under
"recent programs" at http://c-span.org/) Worth the 20min.
