A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

What a day Sunday was! There have been many threads already posted on FR about the Iraqi Elections, and some of the most wonderful and heartwarming pictures, as millions of Iraqis turned out in an historic election, to cast their vote for freedom. Some were jubilant, some were overcome with emotion; but all were resolved.

Four Iraqi women proudly display their ink-stained fingers as proof of their vote in Sunday's election!

President George W. Bush walks out of the Blue Room of the White House to deliver remarks about the Iraqi Election January 30, 2005. Bush called Sunday's landmark Iraqi election a resounding success and said Iraqis have rejected the anti-democratic ideology of the terrorists. By participating in free elections, the Iraqi people have firmly rejected the anti-democratic ideology of the terrorists. They have refused to be intimidated by thugs and assassins, he said in televised comments from the White House after the polls closed. (REUTERS/Mannie Garcia)

Ask if anyone cares, Mr. "I-served-in-Vietnam-and-don't-you-forget-it."

On CBS'Face the Nation Sunday, January 30, 2005, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, in Washington, said the Iraqi elections went 'better than expected', despite incomplete reports about the extent of voter turnout in areas plagued by intimidation and violence.

The President delivers his State of the Union Address to Congress and the American people tomorrow night. I'm sure those on the left side of the aisle, in the spirit for which they are known, will offer their full support and willing cooperation of both his foreign and domestic initiatives.... as they did last year.

Maybe not

February may be the shortest month of the year, but there is no lack of important dates to remember. Coming up in the next couple of weeks, there is, of course Super Bowl Sunday February 6th. Go Eagles!
It's Mardi Gras time in New Orleans, and Fat Tuesday is next week, February 8th. Celebrate!

February 14th - well, everybody loves Valentine's Day. (Don't they?)

Don't forget Presidents Lincoln and Washington's birthdays, celebrated as President's Day on February 21st.

And of course, this little guy will be rearing his head tomorrow - will he see his shadow? When will this winter end?

This thread will continue through tomorrow..... see you back here same time, same place? In the meantime, have a Terrific Tuesday!

2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

A Clear Call

Read: 1 Samuel 3:1-10

Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears." —1 Samuel 3:10

Bible In One Year: Exodus 14-17

When George Washington Carver was a student at Iowa Agricultural College (now Iowa State University), he and a friend planned to go as missionaries to Africa. But as his agricultural studies progressed, Carver, a devout Christian, began to sense a different calling from God.

When Booker T. Washington asked him to join the faculty of Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, Carver made it a matter of earnest prayer. In 1896, Carver wrote to Washington: "It has been the one ideal of my life to be of the greatest good to the greatest number of my people possible, and to this end I have been preparing myself for these many years." He pledged to do all he could through the power of Christ to better the conditions of African-Americans in the racially segregated South.

Carver's sensitive heart and willing obedience to God bring to mind the experience of Samuel. Under the guidance of Eli the priest, Samuel responded to God's voice by saying, "Speak, for Your servant hears" (1 Samuel 3:10).

During a lifetime of service, the distinguished African-American scientist George Washington Carver honored God by obeying His call. He has left a rich legacy and lasting example for us all. —David McCasland

Oh, make me, Lord, so much like Thee,
My life controlled by power divine,
That I a shining light may be
From which Thy grace may ever shine. —Robertson

A life lived for God leaves a lasting legacy.

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!

January was a great and eventful month with the Inaguration and the election in Iraq.

A little dodgy weatherwise, but a good start to 2005.

Little tiny February looks like it's gonna be chock full of events and all kinds of stuff!

Hope everyone has a great day! :o)

Hi Pip.. I have done a little scanning of some of the inaug threads & was sorry to note you were unable to come to ball even though you had a ticket. It would have been nice to meet you. Lots of really nice folks there. I only spoke with a small number even though I mingled & tried to meet folks all night.. I was hoping to get to CPAC in a few weeks - but finances are not there. When I had lots of money I didn't have time to get to all the great places. Now I have the time & not the $$$, Sigh. Hope you get to check in there for a few hours at least one day. I understand it is wonderful.
