Amazon.com ^ | Feb 21. 2005 | Larry Schweikart

Posted on 02/21/2005 1:50:24 PM PST by Travis McGee

Larry Schweikart, AKA freeper "LS," was on the Laura Ingraham show this morning, discussing his book "A Patriot's History of the United States." In the hours since the show, Patriot's History has rocketed on Amazon from a ranking in the middle hundreds, to number 36! This may be the best selling book by any freeper, ever! Congratulations Larry!

Next stop, Rush Limbaugh's March newsletter, and and the top ten!

I heard that interview! I'm so glad the author is a freeper! The author said the book was appropriate for advanced juniors or seniors in high school through college. It made me think that someone should write a history book like this for younger students. I am already combating the publik schools and having to teach my 8 year old "the truth" compared to what she learns at school.

Congratulations. As an author of non-fiction, I root whole-heartedly for the success of everyone who writes in that genre. It is TERRIFIC to see a book featuring a shameless lack of sex and violence climb to #36 on the Amazon list. Pop the champagne, which is well-deserved.

I had the pleasure of meeting Larry during CPAC at the FR booth. His book signing session had been earlier that morning.

Thanks for the update, and congrats to Larry for his literary success!

One Review: Found on Amazon.com

The Antidote to the America Haters, February 21, 2005 Reviewer: Matthew Bracken (San Diego, CA United States) -

I guess I'm not surprised that the usual "Hate America First" crowd of clapped-out bitter Marxists have jumped on A Patriot's History and reviewed it from Michael Moore's and Ward Churchill's perspective. That's the only reason why it doesn't have a five star review across the board: bitter leftists, snarling and snapping even as they are being carried out in history's dustbin. A Patriot's History is not a light read, but I suggest that parents purchase it for their college-bound high school students. They need to be armed with the truth when they arrive at the universities, so that they can effectively counter the radical leftist arguments of the America-hating Zinns, Churchills and Jensons who infest academia.

Thanks for the heads up.

LS...how about posting a sample. How do you treat Shays' Rebellion, for example?

Congrats!

BTW, are you the same "Larry Schweikart" who wrote some pieces about Trident for the US Naval Institute Proceedings back in the 1980s?

Just curious. Is there a conservative book club here at Free Republic? Lord knows there are enough conservative books out there now (maybe not a few years ago, but now there are).

I've been thinking of starting a thread on the subject, but I thought I'd find out by asking on some other book thread first.

LOL. I found out last time I ordered from Overstock that they're about 15 minutes away from me. Cheaper than gasoline to have them put it in my mailbox.
