SAN FRANCISCO - A woman who led an effort to help those ravaged by violence in Iraq fell victim to the war herself when a car bomb killed her and two other people, officials said Sunday.

Marla Ruzicka, founder of Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict, died Saturday in the blast, which also killed an Iraqi and another foreigner, officials said. She had been in Iraq conducting door-to-door surveys trying to determine the number of civilian casualties in the country.

Ruzicka, 28, of Lakeport, founded CIVIC in 2003 and was instrumental in securing millions of dollars in aid money from the federal government for distribution in Iraq.

Yikes. That one line about supporting the war but now opposing it kind of reminds of a famous quote; something about voting for something before voting against it.....

I had to bite my tongue on that one.

Thanks!
I didn't have the patience to play "stop the Tape" with him myself.
I get too angry too quickly and end up like a stone golem -mindlessly crushes everything in it's path in a slow plodding manner.

Marla was in Iraq before the war as a guest of Saddam.

"Even if you despise her and believe her, however irrationally, to be some hideous traitor, at least have the Christian decency not to defile the recently passed."

PROVE that it is irrational to call a spade a spade and state that her propping up of Saddam's regime, and her terrorist sympathies were treason.

At least have the CHRISTIAN DECENCY to DECRY WRONGDOING.
Christian decency DOES NOT MEAN you give a pass to treason.

" Color me silly for thinking most conservatives wouldn't support a war, suddenly framed as, for "democracy" and "human rights," "

You are silly. The best and most profound reason for the war in Iraq is that replaced a dictatorship with a democracy, and thereby it fundamentally altered the governing models for Arab nations in ways that will eventually extinguish the threat of global islamic terrorism. This justification was mentioned by Bush himself in March 2003 prior to the invasion.

See:

Your comments about "defiling" this activist are mis-directed... Here's what I said: "She has a 10-year track record of left-wing agitation. She stayed in Iraq after saddam was deposed to highlight the victims of war as a way to demonize the U.S. liberation of Iraq and demoralize our war effort.
She agitated for U.S. taxpayer money, money that ws better spent through CPA, DoD or real organizations, not a leftist front group."

I never called her names, but merely pointed who she was: a long-time professional activist whose activities in Iraq, as elsewhere, were directed at emphasizing what America is doing wrong. Her main goal of polling for victims was so that could be used by her friends as PR against the war.

"It seems the prevailing view on this board is that the wisdom of the Iraq war is not debatable."

Look everyone - a self-refuting statement!

"I'm a conservative Republican, having volunteered on 3 major Republican campaigns recently."

I'd be interested to know which ones ...

You forgot to mention how you watch Fox News every day and listen to Rush, newbie.

Do check out this site, before you go: Visit Mass Graves
These are some of the 300,000 dead she should have been counting.
Use some of your childish logic to quantify that.

She died collecting more propaganda to use against the U.S.,
and I would not mourn her.

BTW, We know you're a fraud.
Real Conservatives don't have to brag about how conservative they are...

" Since the raison d'etre proved to be false or at best woefully exaggerated, I became opposed to the war.""

Yeah. I bet you can claim "I've voted republican all my life" also.

I agree with you. Some people just can't recognize evil for what it is. Usually, they misidentify evil.
