My first thougth upon hearing of this story was Susan Smith. What a nightmare.
Dear God no.
Ok- news conf on FOX now...weird...there's a fence around the pond. Unlikely they both fell in. And wouldn't mom have been hollering and lookin all over the neighborhood..including the pond, the road to the pond?
Almost no facts released but already the fingers are being pointed by the geniuses here on FR.
Please people, wait until some facts come forth!
Anyone taking bets on bathwater in the lungs? Autopsy will be able to determin time of death also.

Great job!!! If the parents clear, that should be the next step.
Well they halted the search after the mothers polygragh. I'd say she probably had a hand in their deaths.
I'm not going to rush to judgement on this one, but I have to say that I remember having to take my kids into the bathroom with me, or at least the bedroom, where I could keep an eye on them. It was years before I could expect to even have peace in the bathroom. I suspect that the woman was in the bathroom for more than two minutes.
I would not want you on my jury.
I don't know if they were punished or not. Nothing ever appeared in the news after the obituary. It was rental property and the couple moved out about the same time the funeral was held.
Me too.... sad to say.
I hope it happened too quickly for them to be very scared.
Not defending her, I dont know the facts, but as a parent I can assure you, children can vanish in sseconds even when you are as paranoid as I was when they were young.
On the other hand toddlers had been seen earlier away from the house and had been taken back home and door relocked.
Will you keep us updated on the news conference?
, , ,So far, it look like this is what happened. . .
So sad, , ,
I agree with you on this one. Even if we cannot, and should not, rush to blame anyone, I do remember getting used to not close (much less lock) the bathroom door if I was home alone with any of my toddlers. And they made it to adulthood in one piece!
I imagine the "sewage" pond is a storm-water retention pond. We have lots of them around here. Cat tails, ducks, frogs, bugs - all sorts of things to catch a kid's interest. (Some with a park bench nearby and nice grass - kind of a mini-park.)
My children are 17 and 19 and I still want to hold their hands walking across a mall parking lot. (Yes, they think I'm nuts.)
No need to waste time with things like facts. Let the Witchhunts begin.
