Cuneiform tablets and royal stamp unearth in northeast Syria

The Syrian-Belgian joint excavation mission in northeast Syria has recently discovered some cuneiform tablets dating back to the neo Assyrian king in the Mesopotamia Shamshi Adad, 1800 BC, as well it unearthed the king personal stamp.
Head of the Belgian team of excavations told SANA today that after the discovery of the king special stamp, the mission is doing her best to come across the full palace of the king, noting that the mission has started her excavation work this year at Shager Bazar hill in Hassaka, northeast Syria, in light of last years conclusion.
Head of Hassaka directorate of archeology Abdul Massih Baghdou said among the unearthed findings this year are "buildings dating back to 1800 years BC." He added "there are a collection of cuneiform tablets and potteries in addition to the finding of buildings dating back to the 5000 years BC." King Shamshi Adad 1053-1049 BC. Was a neo Assyrian king who ruled the Mesopotamia of northern Syria in the Middle Assyrian period of Syrian history.
Yet to be dug up nearby...Saddam's WMD.
(chuckle) Maybe the CIA is improving and infiltrating the Belgian archeological groups -- digging for WMDs in Syria --- maybe they are on our payroll ??? :-)

One mistake in this article: they say Shamshi-adad was a NEO-Assyrian king who reigned c. 1800 BC. He was an Old Assyrian king. The Middle Assyrian Era was c. 1300-1100 BC. The Neo-Assyrian Era was much later (c. 850-610 BC). The Neo-Assyrians are the ones mentioned in the Old Testament.

Well put. Looks like the writer of the article couldn't quite make up his mind (there was more than one king by that name), suggesting to me at least that the text was either concocted by or edited by the Syrian propaganda ministry.

It would be extraordinary for a royal seal to simply be left lying around. My take on this is that the responsible official was probably interrupted in his duties by some cataclysmic event--such as an earthquake or being overrun by a military raid.
This wording is a bit confusing. I wonder if it means "dating back 5000 years" or "dating back to 5000 BC"?
I agree. Understood it to mean 1800BC is confirmed and 5000BC is suspected.(?) Or, 1800BC has been excavated and 5,000BC hasn't. (?)

Yeah, it's still confusing. Hopefully over the next few weeks there will be another article which is worded more clearly.
