FReepers from the DC Chapter conducted a FReep of the Downing Street Memo Rally at Lafayette Park next to the White House on June 16. The DSM Rally was sponsored by Code Pink and Progressive Democrats of America (the outfit of William Rivers Pitt of DUmmie FUnnies fame) in an attempt to refight their crushing defeat in the last election. The leftists, including John Conyers (D-Michigan) and other members of Congress who spoke or attended, are trying to impeach President Bush by using a triple-hearsay, ambiguous memo (read great National Review article here) of a lower level British Foreign Office bureaucrat.
(Here is the announcement thread for the FReep.)
The honor roll of those in attendance on this absolutely beautiful spring evening: kristinn, Jimmy Valentine's brother, Sauropod, Hoodlum91, Christopher Lincoln, agreatper, trueblackman, our Iraqi friend Nofel, and BillF.
In addition, several people just passing by joined us to hold signs. Numerous others, tourists and military, came up to thank us for being there. The most touching moment was when a soldier in civilian clothes was thanking us for being there and we were thanking him for his service. Nofel then thanked the soldier for helping to free him and his whole country.
Let me know if you want to hear sound files. If there is sufficient interest, I'll go through and sort out some sound bites for posting later.
We initially set up in the closed off Pennsylvania Ave section next to Lafayette Park and about 200 feet from the leftists stage. Maybe they only got about 200 people to attend, yet one leftist assured me that the "neo-fascists" would not win and impeachment was taking off. Right, taking off like a lead balloon.
We chanted FRY SADDAM NOW and YOU NEVER MARCHED AGAINST OSAMA, YOU NEVER MARCHED AGAINST SADDAM. Jimmy Valentine's brother and kristinn were among the FReepers interviewed by the press. At the end of an interview with local channel 7, kristinn was asked if he had a message for the opposing side. He said, "swim to Cuba, you'll be happier there."
Various arguments broke out as leftists came over to confront us. One gave us the finger, a sure sign of a successful FReep. Unfortunately, my camera didn't click fast enough to get it.
After a couple hours, we saw commotion over at the White House gate a few hundred yards away. We walked over there as leftists also converged. Conyers was apparently trying to present a petition to the guard there. We chanted TRAITORS AT THE GATE and CONYERS IS A PHONY. We also shouted something like CONGRESSMAN CONYERS, BE RESPECTFUL, THAT'S THE MONICA GATE, fondly recalling our days protesting the impeached one.
We moved back to our first location after the gate festivities ended. We chanted some more and again there were pitched verbal jousts with the leftists. Fortunately, all was peaceful thanks to the ever present and watchful members of the U.S. Park Police and Uniform Division of the U.S. Secret Service.
As the leftist rally broke up, Congress members John Conyers, Maxine Waters, and Sheila Jackson Lee separately walked by quickly. When trueblackman and kristinn shouted at Conyers, he just kept walking. Waters waved the back of her hand and then shook her booty as she slipped away, as sauropod videotaped the Congresswoman's antics. As Jackson Lee passed by, kristinn tried to get her to talk to Nofel about what Iraq was like with Saddam in charge. She agreed to talk if Nofel walked along with her as she had to hurry back for a meeting or vote. Nofel then walked along with her as sauropod also went along to videotape the discussion.
Another time a leftist came up and said do you have any relatives who've served in Iraq. He was quite disappointed when I truthfully told him that my brother had served over there.
One leftist tried to tell me that President Bush had killed more Iraqis than Saddam. The leftist' jaw dropped when I called Nofel over and said "this gentleman is from Iraq and he has a different story." It was perfect.

Help us peacefully counter the leftists' attempt to molest our wounded troops. Don't let the troops think that the Pinkos are somehow representative of the nation.
If you live in the DC area and there is any possible way for you to come, please join us tonight in countering the leftists. Here is the thread with details as to time and place:
FReepers vs. Code Pink at Walter Reed, June 10 (Join us June 17!)
DC Chapter ^ | June 15, 2005 | BillF
Posted on 06/15/2005 10:55:44 PM PDT by BillF
For the ninth time in just over 10 weeks, DC Chapter FReepers conducted a FReep of Code Pink's anti-war protest at the gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where many of the most severely wounded troops from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are taken for continued treatment and rehabilitation. The FReep of the leftists' obscene blood dance was on the Friday night, June 10.
[snip]
The leftist numbers have been dropping and they seem to be running out of steam. If we could get another ten or fifteen FReepers to show up for some of these FReeps and sufficiently outnumber the leftists, embarrassment may cause the leftists to stop these outrageous morale-damaging ("Maimed for a lie" was one of their signs on that night) demonstrations at the hospital. What about you? Can you spare a few hours on a Friday night?
I botched the html above such that clicking on some photos does not open a new window. It does show the large version of the photo and you can easily back-arrow to the thread.
Please, if at all possible, join us tonight outside Walter Reed to help protect our war-wounded from the cynical leftist propaganda of Code Pink per details on the indented thread referenced in my comments above.
Great pictures. Looks like you all had a lot of fun.

1600 Transylvania Avenue --- how cute.
These lefties are so creative. (barf alert)
I see they're still using the "No Blood for Oil" line. Where's the oil?

Taxman Bravo Zulu! for a superb FReep and FReep writeup.
Gotta get back up there for a FReep, REAL SOON NOW!
In the report is a photo of a DUmmie with signatures of other DUmmies who were too busy getting manicures (and that's the guys) to attend the event.
I intended to make a sign about the DUmmie FUnnies (mentioning the CD-ROM insert for related comix stories, if I could figure out how) to take, but just never got around to it. Sorry, but I'll try to remember that next time I run into DUmmie activity. On this occasion, instead of holding a sign, I took photos and occasionally held a flag.
I hope the beer was cold enough to revive JVB...
Spec-Ops Viking Kitty.

Freep, the vicious Troll Killer.
Good work
I love it! Great job FReepers!
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
Great job. Thank you.
I freep vicariously through these threads, BillF. Thanks for posting. It's still stunning to see these Leftists protest for terrorists/terrorism.

If you want all the larger images to appear in the same second browser (my personal preference) then be sure the target name (in this example "newWin") is the same for all hyperlinks.
In DUmmieland even they admitted that there were only about 300 of their demonstrators in Lafayette Park which probably means they actually had only about a couple hundred there.
Excellent FReep!
That's the kind of stuff that makes me have second thoughts about moving out of northern VA.
Where was Mullah B?
If you want to, you can download the Li'l Beaver graphic and print it out large at Kinkos for use on signs. Seeing Li'l Beaver is sure to drive DUmmies even more nuts than they already are.
Thank you all so much for your efforts. I really enjoyed seeing the pictures and the signs; you all did a good job!
Great report.
FReeping there sure brought back a lot of memories.
I did not get much footage of the DUmmie tho. 'Pod.
That bird thing sure gets old. I think they use it as the leftist salute.
I take it as an admission of weakness. Doesn't bother me at all.

Excellent Job! You guys make me very proud to be a Freeper. I wish I could've joined you.
I had intended to be a part of the FREEP (it would have been my first), but I had to remain at work until 7:00 last night in order to deal with a person who works for me. (Correction: in order to deal with a person who comes to the office).
Good FREEP, you guys.
It's always a bit bittersweet for me to read about your antics. I have been privileged to join the DC chapter on many freeps, and there is nothing quite like it. Your reports always make me wish that I had been there. What wonderful memories I have!
Thanks, DC Chapter for representing Freepers everywhere!
A snippet of one of those interviews was played on Fox News (radio version) this morning. Took me a while to put two and two together - I shoulda known it was youse guys. Nice work, thanks.
One more reason not to get too close to her.
Comparing pix of the Commies with pix of the FReepers, one thing leaps out at you... they have NO American flags. Guess they're ashamed.
Do you have a cable to connect your camera to a TV? If so, we can watch your footage on Saturday. See you soon.
Great report and photos, BillF. You guys and gals did a great job, as usual. See you on Saturday.
Great line, BillF...
I'm sorry that I missed you guys. It looks like you had a lot of fun. The day would have been too long for me... I wouldn't have had the strength to do yesterday and tonight (plus I might have caused extra trouble, I'll explain that further to those who show up at WRAMC tonight.)
Great work, everyone!
Let me know if you are coming to WRAMC tonight. Several folks are arriving early at the DC Chapter's Takoma Park compound for nutritional fortification.
I need to know how many fatted calves to slaughter...
TIA
anyone see Will Pitt blabbing on and on?
Yeppers.
We're gonna attend, but we'll be late. My daughter has a piano recital at 3 pm.
In for two.
If he is not President, how can he be impeached?
You guys are Heros!! Great Job.
You guys rock! BTW, please tell Nofel that one of the things I am most proud of is my generation's role in the liberation of his country. I've been on the liberation bandwagon ever since I saw the pictures of Hallabjah, but there's no need for thanks...the pictures of Iraqis with purple fingers were all the thanks I need!
Excellent FReep, excellent report. Thank you for fighting the good fight. Know that you are joined in these efforts by the spirit of many fellow FReepers. God Bless you all.
This is one of the funniest things I've seen.
To all: Great job for Freeping when others cant be there.
Sorry that you couldn't make it, but maybe you can come tonight to FReep the Code Pinkos at Walter Reed from 7:30 to about 10?
You can get details about location by clicking on this link: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1423860/posts
I apologize for not getting a better photo of you. Sorry, also at botching the caption of the photo.
Thanks for the ping.
