LIBERAL PIRRO = LIBERAL HILLARY

Media Anointed NY Senate Candidate, Jeanine Pirro,

Aligned with Senator Clinton on Most Issues

Yonkers, NY – “How the hell are you a Republican?” asked Geraldine Ferraro of Westchester County DA Jeanine Pirro (New York Times, May 9, 1999) who announced yesterday that she will run for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senator for New York.

Good question. When compared to Mrs. Clinton, Ms. Pirro’s record doesn’t look much different:

ISSUE Gun Control Abortion rights Jeanine Pirro Favors Favors Hillary Clinton Favors Favors

Affirmative Action Gay Rights Jeanine Pirro Supports Supports Hillary Clinton Supports Supports

"'Jeanine Pirro is 100 percent pro-choice and has a tremendous record to run on. Jeanine's success as Westchester D.A. gives her the experience to be a great Attorney General,'" said Kelli Conlin, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice New York, in an e-mailed statement. (New York Observer, June 6, 2005). Mrs. Pirro (R) is currently being featured by the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) in an ad bashing President George W. Bush on abortion.

"She is a pro-choice woman who even backs Medicaid funding for abortion and a supporter of gun control, affirmative action and gay civil unions." (The Hill, Dick Morris, June 22, 2005)

"Partial-birth abortion and gay marriage are deal breakers for us,” says Mike Long, Chairman of the New York Conservative Party. “And without us, I don't think she can win for the Senate. No Republican has won statewide without our endorsement since 1974" (New York Times, 8/9).

Former Yonkers Mayor, John Spencer, the only conservative candidate running for the GOP nomination, asked, “Why would the Republican Party support someone aligned with the Democrat candidate on nearly every issue? New Yorkers need and deserve a clear choice and that is NOT Ms. Pirro.”

Pirro should run against Hillary in the Democrat primary. Why not? It would be one ethically challenged liberal against another more famous ethically challenged liberal.

Who cares? At least she isn't offensive to the eyes, nose and ears as Hillary is...

Pirro does not equal Hillary. Therefore, I'm rooting for her!

Heck, it's just like in 2000. Rick Lazio ain't normally my kind of politician, but I drove five hours each way to help out his campaign one Saturday.

There are issues here larger than this. And I know many will accuse of "selling out" should you support Pirro over Hillary but there is a fact overlooked by many. It is a direction to move towards in this pathetic state where politicians are ALL liberal for the most part. I know of some who are truly conservatives and serve the causes of the right much better,. While Pirro may not do this in full she will do so in part , and in the mean time whether she wins or loses she will take a lot of energy out of Hillary and her campaign coffiers.

I want Hillary defeated so she is finished. She may still run for Prez, but the baggage of having lost or even barely won her own state will hurt her.

If a Hillary clone, who will caucus with the GOP, is what it takes to defeat Hillary in New York and hopefully derail her Presidential aspirations, then I'm all for her! Hell, I'd be thrilled if a Democrat could take her out in a Senate Primary.

Pirro really is wrong for the party. She won't be the strongest contrast against Hillary. The truth about NYS politics is that it is a Democrat state, not a liberal state. When the GOP puts up liberal Republicans, they loose. When the run Conservatives, they win. George Pataki in 1994 was the last conservative to run in NYS and he won. Since then we have had pro-life conservative candidates for Comptroller and Attorney General come within a hair of winning. Pro-life John Spencer will beat Pirro in the primary

The idea is not that we support Pirro, but that we are trying to stop Hillary in her tracks. A defeat in a Senatorial race in NY, unlikely as it is, would stop her Presidential ambitions. Pirro herself is only a means to an end. We either stop the beast now, or let her mutate on to the national stage. In any event, the odds of Hitlery losing in NY are minuscule.

Dear stuckinNY-NJ

If you think that Mrs. Pirro represents a significant threat to win the White House in 2008, and bring along Bill Clinton for the ride, then I agree with you.

Pirro announced yesterday that she would have been the 15th member of McCain's Gang of 14. See my other posts on NYS politics. Becuase NYS allows for candidates to be endorsed by more then one political party, Republicans NEED to be cross endorsed by the Conservative Party of NY. NO GOPer has won statewide without the Conservative Party support. Pirro will never get it.

Look we're talking NY not South Carolina.

And she'd still be head and shoulders over Illary.

Pirro oozes charisma.....why is it that the moderate republicans are far more charismatic than the ideologues?

The Hildabeast must be defeated even by a liberal, if that's what it takes, because of the threat she poses to becoming President.

Whatever, whoever it takes, even someone to the left of her if necessary. This isn't very complicated.

Pirro can be Hillary. Spencer cannot.

Dear stuckinNY-NJ,

"Pirro announced yesterday that she would have been the 15th member of McCain's Gang of 14."

In that currently the seat is held by far-left Hitlery, who will vote to maintain a filibuster if commanded by the Dammocrap party's politburo, this represents an improvement from the status quo.

Pirro was a great prosecutor. I have nothing against her because of her ex-convict husband. She is simply too liberal to run for Senate as both the GOP and the Conservative Party candidate in NYS. NO GOPer has won statewide in NYS without the Conservative Party support. She won't get it

I care because I know where you are sitting you probably think that NYS is a liberal state. IT is not. It is a Democrat state. The GOP fails when it puts up liberal GOPers. IN NYS minor parties can cross endorse candidates. Winning the Conservative Party endorsement is often crucial for victory in local races through out the state. In many places the Conservatives have supported pro-life local Democrats. Statewide no GOPer has been elected without Conservative Party support. Pirro will not get the Conservative Party support. This is not what it seems from the outside
