Can't wait for the leftwing nutcases to say that they said the oceans would rise as a result of global warming, and they are.

What happens next? How long will it take for NO to return to viability? Does anyone have any inkling? This is so sad.

Water spills over a levee along the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is estimated that 80 percent of New Orleans is under flood waters as levees begin to break and leak around Lake Ponchartrain(AFP/Pool/Vincent Laforet)

DUMB QUESTION TIME - WHERE ARE HELICOPTERS TO DROP 1000LB POLY PLY BAGS OF SAND INTO THE BREECH?

WHERE ARE THE EMPTY BARGES TO SINK AT THE BREECH TO DO THE SAME THING???

There must be a body of experience in the world - even the Dutch had a boy to stick something in the leaky dyke

The only thing rising faster than the water is the price of gas.

I wonder what has happened to Plaquemines Parish? I believe thats the one at the tip of the Mississippi. It is surrounded by water with the big river running through the middle of it. it's hard to imagine even the topography coming through unscathed there.

Joy Schovest, 55, was in the apartment complex with her boyfriend, Joe Calvin, when the water began rising. They stayed despite a mandatory evacuation order.

"The water got higher and higher," she said, breaking into tears. "It pushed all the doors open and we swam out. We grabbed a lady and pulled her out the window and then we swam with the current. It was terrifying. You should have seen the cars floating around us. We had to push them away when we were trying to swim."

I just don't understand why these folks don't leave!! Yes, it's going to be awful!! That's why there was an evacuation order! Darn darn darn!! I hate that so many have died needlessly.

With the water rising people are now sleeping and spending the night on freeway overpasses per pictures I saw on NBC.

"It's a very slow rise, and it will remain so until we plug that breach. I think we can get it stabilized in a few hours,"

Thank God it will be plugged in a few hours and isn't serious.

The people of Louisiana don't need to hear Governor Blanco using words like 'worst fears, overwhelming, untenable, heartbreaking.' They know that. They need a leader who will spell out the realities of the situation and give them courage for what lies ahead. Someone who sounds like they know what they're doing.

I think we need to take time for all of us who are fortunate enough not to be personally touched by this to pray and thank God for all the good fourtunes we have and to pray for all those poor people down there. I know I have problems, money problems that I'm trying to dig out of, but compared to those people that lost everything, I'm happy to have a place to call home, a running vehicle and a job. Looking out my window here in the Pittsburgh area, we are starting to get the rain and I see the wind picking up some but I don't think Katrina will be like Ivan last year or Agnes in 1972, at least I hope so.

Downtown streets that were relatively clear in the hours after the storm were filled with 1 to 1 1/2 feet of water Tuesday morning.

FOX News showed people drinking and partying right after the storm...and it all just seemed so unseemly and inappropriate considering all the devastation in the city around them.
I imagine many of them are waking up with hang-overs, with no running water, no electricity, no working toilets, the flood waters now rising around them and calls for EVERYBODY to evacuate the city NOW.
A very rude awakening indeed.
