Nations? Yes. The UN? Hell No!

Under Secretary-General Jan Egeland said his office had offered the services of the U.N.'s disaster assistance

I hope they won't be too stingy.

Yesterday I Emailed Egeland. Response follows:

Lee: We have been in contact with the US Government to offer help. The Secretary General has issued a statement expressing his condolences. I may also speak to the press on this. The UN will help in any way we can. Best regards, Jan

Maybe they will take some of these Looters "refugees" off our hands. Permanantly.

Rice says all hurricane aid offers from other countries will be accepted

I love our leadership. "Yo, put up or shut up."

I thank God they're smart enough to put the loudmouths on the left on the defensive.

I finally figured it out. Jesse Jackson and Hugo Chavez are behind the hurricane so Chavez can run to the rescue and prove he is a good guy and make Bush look bad.

Still, Bush told ABC-TV: "I'm not expecting much from foreign nations because we hadn't asked for it. I do expect a lot of sympathy and perhaps some will send cash dollars. But this country's going to rise up and take care of it."

In other words, they might offer but only a few will actually follow through. Bush slapped 'em.

I think this reporter meant to say "President" Bush. /sarcasm

"no offer that can help alleviate the suffering of the people in the afflicted area will be refused,"

Excellent. We'll just deduct the amount from our aid to them and keep a running tab open for the rest.

There'd be a tidy sum available if a stop payment was placed on checks sent to "Palestine".

The United Nations informed U.S. Ambassador John R. Bolton it was prepared to support the relief effort "in any way possible."

The only "help" that comes to mind that we should not accept. If the U.N. wants to help, they can leave the U.S.

I can't remember when I've seen a natural disaster that's been as politicized as this one has.

Put it in escrow and the next time you feel like
given to the Palys give them out of that pile instead
of our wallets.

This is good to see. While I love America with all my heart we can tend to be a little too arrogant. It is wonderful to see so many other countries offering help and wonderful to see we will accept it.

To only be charitable to others and refuse to accept help when needed is very prideful. I will be happy to see my country humble itself and accept help. Those people down there need all the help they can get. I fear it will only get worse.

Heeheee, I bet some of these countries that offered will be shocked that we are accepting help. Bet some of them are saying "Oh Crap, now we gotta send something"

I still think it's a good idea to make sure we get something from the countries that offered help with the hurricane but didn't lift a finger for us in Iraq.

We do not have the right to refuse help from anyone.

Americans are suffering and we owe it to them to be gracious about any help offerred.

With offers from the four corners of the globe pouring in, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has decided "no offer that can help alleviate the suffering of the people in the afflicted area will be refused," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Thursday.

That's kind of silly. Under what conditions would she turn down aid?

I agree with peyton randolph in comment #2 above. We should gladly accept aid from other countries and politely decline any aid offered by the UN.

"We also offer field hospitals, medical kits and equipment for temporary housing, reinforcement for hospitals, or any assistance that you may require," Sharon wrote. He said the teams and equipment could be ready in 24 hours.

I believe they offered similar help to the nations hit by the tsunami, but they were rejected.

Odd. There was a national media report the King of Saudi Arabia had telephoned Bush and offered assistence. I notice it's not mentioned in the list.

Any chance Mexico is offering us something other than oil-for-amnesty?

Are there any motions afoot confering any sense of special economic benefit (respecting trade) to these countries?

I believe doing so would be the equivalent of what the hoi polloi with manners would send out as "thank you" cards. Moreover, I doubt that GWB has any question where, now or when to employe this aide.

The MSM should be loudly proclaiming how many aide benevolent and altruistic countries are contra-Iraq war. Germany has a hospital ship that is rivaled by very few countries. I'm sure that its on the way. After all, humanitarianism is without boundaries, knows no politics, and transcends all religions, right?

Please, excuse me, whilest I gaggeth.
