Major Garrett new blockbuster----Salvation Army efforts at supplying the evacuees BLOCKED.
Hugh Hewitt ^ | Sept 8 2005 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 09/08/2005 4:42:37 PM PDT by Dog

The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.

I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

I've always like Major Garrett, and have often wondered why Fox doesn't use him more.

How true. "impeach" and "outrage" are the talking point words thrown into every sound-bite since he became president.

I am CONVINCED this was a plan to make Bush look bad, NOT mere incompetence. And the Rats used the most helpless members of society to try and smear the President.

But you know what Miss Marple, it's working. They are smearing the president, they are hurting him. It's the same way a few weeks ago with Sheehan and the War in general. The WH can't seem to respond to this wildeye hysteria. Where in the heck are the administration officials debunking this crap, where are the republican leadership??

Those same thoughts keep coming back into my mind too.

That is probably why people refuse to leave their homes. The homes will be looted and taken over by gangs who will confiscate the whole area. No one will be able to get back in or the area will be condemned. Then "they" will buy the land for cents on the dollar and use the disaster rebuilding funds to pay for their enlargement of the casino/entertainment empire.

Now - could it possibly be that a mayor and governor would be part of a massive land re-use scheme?

In a corrupt state, nothing is too far out.

The state people need to cause an uproar over this, demand recalls, and clean house of the government.

And I think Hillary was behind it all pulling the strings. We should check Blanco's phone/fax/email records!

The City of Pineville was also honored to have Major General Bennett Landreneau (pictured with Mayor Fields) as the Grand Marshal. As Adjutant General for the Louisiana National Guard and the State's head of Homeland Security, we were honored to honor him as an example of remembering those currently on the firing line for our freedom. The City of Pineville also says thanks to our co-sponsors ... the CENLA-Vets Coalition and the Pineville Rotary Club. http://www.pineville.net/archive/archive16.htm

I agree. I smell the proverbial rat. People are helpless, and the predators are circling. The predators are the criminals and the politicians.

---"Remember her cutesy statement during the evacuation that those coming to the dome must pretend they are camping out and bring their own supplies."----

To sum up their plan:

1) Sick and elderly to be evacuated using city and school buses.

2) The few remaining able-bodied people remaining will use the dome as a last resort, and will bring their own food and water for 3 days.

3) After the hurricane, bus remaining few people to evac. centers away from N.O.

4) People will be moved to safety (and food and water) - food and water will not be brought into the hazard zone.

IF everything had gone according to plan - it's not such a bad idea. How come the guy covering Step 4 was the only one doing his job?

This administration has always run and hid from criticism instead of cutting off at the head. Sad, if they got the truth out they could shut all this crap down.

This will undoubtedly come out in the investigation the Dems are trying their utmost to derail

So true. But ultimately the overwhelming truth will be known. The Democratic leadership in N.O. abandoned the very constituents the put them in office.

Yes, I did. I am convinced that the Rats have had this plan in place for a long time. I think it is the plan they planned to use if we got struck by a terrorist attack (for 3 years we have heard Rats intoning about how we have NO port security, NO border control, NO money for First Responders, etc.)

Bush was too good at preventing terrorist attacks, so they went with the plan using the hurricane. The problem is that the hurricane was PREDICTED, so they can't just stand around and whine that there was no help...it was there and the Louisiana State government deliberately kept them out.

If those Rats try to impeach Bush (no chance with DeLay in the House) they will be SOOOOO SORRY.

I am already mad enough to spit nails! I ill be calling local talk radio tomorrow!

Almost makes you wonder if they wanted to get rid of their poor and maybe even their criminals. A lot of them died, and the ones who survived got shipped off to other states--sort of like Cuba's Mariel boatlift.

I'm not. I think incompetence and previous corruption and greed (levee money not going to levees) can account for it. Look at other cities which have been run by democrats for years. If Detroit had some kind of catastrophe, it would be handled just as poorly.

No matter what you think of polls they do show a steady erosion of support. If we tout the polls when he is at 90% we can't ignore the polls that show him at 40%. I'm not talking about the who is to "blame" but he is getting whacked on leadership and handling of the crisis. I don't think we can sit back and think that 24/7 attacks on the president aren't affecting him or will not affect us in 2006 or 2008. Even prior to Katrina he was getting pummelled on the war effort. I still stand by my statement that the communications department in the WH is awful.
