PROPOSAL: A Katrina collaborative timeline
vanity ^ | September 14, 2005 | George Smiley

Posted on 09/14/2005 6:38:08 PM PDT by George Smiley

Here's what I'm suggesting:

There appears to be a need for a definitive timeline with respect to Katrina and who did and said what when.

Things get particularly confusing because of the short timeframe referenced in most newspaper and magazine articles- someone pointed out to me that an article said "last Friday", and two Fridays had passed since the beginning of events, so the reference became vague.

And, given the number of Freepers, if a bunch of us pitch in and "walk back the cat" so to speak, a timeline ought to be constructable in relatively short order.

The only way to make this collaborative effort semi-organized would be to open a thread for each day beginning, say, with the time Katrina approached the Florida Coast. (If anyone feels otherwise, I'm not trying to run this, just suggesting.)

As people located news items for a given day, they could post an excerpt in that day's thread along with a link to the original source URL.

When things seem complete, they could then be compiled.

TOPICS: Government; News/Current Events; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: distributed; done; katrina; processing; what; when; who
What say you?

And of course, we'll ask permission from JimRob.

I would love a transcript of this show but can't find it. Craig Mitnick, FoxNews Legal analyst gave an excellent timeline.

If you pick out who, what, when and where, I can do the spread sheet, or vis versa.

a need for a definitive timeline

All data is meaningless if the time the data occurred is not accurately known. Gathering the event data is pointless if the time is not also recorded.

At this point it appears we'd be reinventing the wheel.

Websearch on "katrina" and "timeline".

There are several out there.
