More women are asking for prenups

Over a casual dinner, Rachel Kaplan turned to her boyfriend and asked, "You're open for a prenup, right?"
Darren Waldohlz, 38, a partner in a successful speed-dating business, admits he was caught off guard. But he said he realized a prenuptial agreement would protect the house he owns, too.
"It's not that I plan to get divorced," says Kaplan, 23, a single mom from Fort Lauderdale, who has a sizable inheritance. "I have to protect myself and my daughter."
While men are still more likely to seek a prenup, "women are becoming a more dominant force," said attorney Alan Braverman, who has offices in Fort Lauderdale and Boynton Beach.
Experts attribute the change to women marrying later or more than once.
"It's not uncommon in today's world that women are entering marriages with assets and stock options," said matrimonial attorney Jacqueline Valdespino, in Coral Gables. "Now both sides have equal bargaining power."

Yeah,
I just get a giggle everytime I hear a guy say "I want a woman without baggage" and he's dragging around steamer trunks.

I want my boat fixed..... I have one of these in green. 165 HP.
Giving 1/2 interest in it to the boyfriend in hopes that this will inspire him to install the water pump.

Personally, if I found out that a suitor had slept with any woman, I'd have nothing to do with him physically. He'd be tainted. Like a poisoned well. A willing partner to darkness. Don't be too hasty. My galpal had a very wild and utterly irresponsible life (part of the music scene) until age 26 or so, when some personal episodes made her change her worldview. That was all before I knew her - I wouldn't have been attracted to her then beyond physically, but she is a much different person now. She is conservative politically, which is unusual in the crowds she works with as a musician, and she even has a mad crush on Dick Cheney.
People change. I don't think it's right to hold her old crazy indiscretions against her today, unless she somehow reverted back to that scene, in which case it would become my problem and I'd certainly become alienated from her.

It's funny. Last weekend the big 800+ post article was on high powered women not being able to find mates. Now we are onto them insisting on pre-nups.
I think there is a connection here. I'm just not sure what it is.

Yet my thoughts would be that if you have any doubts, why bother getting married at all?You can have all the faith in the world and still be wrong. I look at it as I do my fire extinguisher, insurance and firearm. Hope never to need it, but I'd rather have it and not need it, then be caught without.

I was being sarcastic. I think people change drastically. In my 20's I was a topless dancer. Now I pastor a church, lead girl scouts, work in bookkeeping.... To judge the entire value of someone based on their past performances, performances they regret, without taking into consideration that human beings grow up is narrow-minded and hard-hearted in my opinion. The man in my life has lead a very conservative lifestyle. I'm kinda surprised he's weathered some of the stories of my past a couple of times.
I'm very glad to hear about you and your lady. Congrats.
