Now Lanny Davis is on Fox not defending Earle, but claiming this is tit for tat for clinton!

I totally brought that up in a previous post that Kate Baley Hutchinson went through some version or other of ronnie earles' justice, and she came out fine, so thanks for making my point.

We have the same thing going on here in KY.

The rats and their enablers have been on Fletcher hard since day one.

So Lanny is admitting they are using the courts for vengeance?

Word to Lanny, Clinton was actually guilty.

EITHER:

1) The prosecutor must be arrested and indicted for abuse of government power, or

2) Republicans must similarly abuse the system.

I agree, and I think river rat would as well!

...he is a failure as a leader

One man's opinion...yours. The fact that DeLay IS a powerful leader is precisely why the dems want him to be brought down.

I am not trying to be smart with you, but it sounds as if you are judging success by whether someone is going to be President or not.

By that yardstick, few can measure up.Both Senator's Clinton and Kennedy have achieved a very high level of success in their chosen fields. That is a true statement regardless of our feelings on these two people.

I also think you are underestimating Hillary. She has been conniving to be the first woman President since she was in college (maybe even before that). She has gotten herself into a position to be very close to succeeding and she will not let anything stand in her way.

There is no chance Delay will be convicted, none, in fact I'm sure the judge will throw out the charges at the first hearing. Also, I saw Earle's press conferrence where he made a truly startling comment. In response to a reporter's question Earle said it is his job to accuse individuals of crimes, not prove them, i.e. he has no evidence. Lastly, conspiracy is commonly known in legal circles as the last resort when seeking indictments because it is extremely hard to prove. I believe Earle was pressured to indict the Majority Leader by local dems in Austin, and when the charges are laughed out of court by the presiding judge (just as another judge did when Earle indicted Senator Kay Baily Hutchinson), those who brought and supported this reckless act will be on the political ropes. It will fun to watch.

"...then we don't deserve to be in power.

On the matter of legal or ethical issues, even on a bad day, Republicans and/or Conservatives "deserve" to be in power.

IMHO...your mileage may vary. ?8^)

For those who might be interested, here is the provision of the Texas Election Code:

§ 251.004. VENUE. (a) Venue for a criminal offense prescribed by this title is in the county of residence of the defendant, unless the defendant is not a Texas resident, in which case venue is in Travis County.

DeLay's residence is in Fort Bend County (Sugar Land), not Travis County (Austin).

Let me know if I am wrong.

If this is for corporate contributions (out of state),to PACS (laundering according to them), a lot of dems are going down.

Too many apologists out there for this clown. DeLay hasn't delivered anything save for big government budgets.

Really? The insurance industry seems happy to see him out of the way so they can renew the government subsidized terrorism insurance act.

"In any event, Earle isn't going to resign. Most likely, he'll keep hammering away at the central thesis of his speech — the dangers posed to democracy by big money donors, especially corporations.

It's a topic worthy of discussion, and Earle said he'd be happy to preach that gospel elsewhere. "I'd be happy to make that same speech at a Republican fund raiser," Earle said in discussing the fallout from this speech."

Oh, NOW I understand why there were so many people on here saying that Earle was non-partisian. Cough.

They came on in droves this afternoon to point out that Ronnie Earle has indicted both dims and repubs. After reading some of Earle's speeches I think he can be more correctly characterized as a Marxist. He hates every corporation he has ever heard of, until he can extort them.

"Dollars for Dismissals" - Byron York - June 20, 2005

Ronnie Earle, the Texas prosecutor who has indicted associates of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay in an ongoing campaign-finance investigation, dropped felony charges against several corporations indicted in the probe in return for the corporations' agreement to make five- and six-figure contributions to one of Earle's pet causes. ...

Earle's deals with the corporations received relatively little press coverage in light of reporters' continuing interest in the DeLay angle of the story. What coverage there was, was not entirely accurate, according to the Sears sources.

On January 12 of this year, the Los Angeles Times reported that the corporations had "flipped," that is, agreed to cooperate with prosecutors. Citing unnamed sources, the paper reported that "information gleaned from the companies could be used as leverage to pressure remaining defendants and, potentially, to target more powerful members of the Republican Party in Texas and Washington."

The "flipped" reference rankled insiders. "That was absolutely not true," says one Sears source. "There was no shred of truth to it." Sears officials, the sources say, had already cooperated fully, telling Earle everything they knew about Sears' lone contribution to TRMPAC. In addition, the sources say, Sears had no knowledge of any illegal activity on the part of anyone else. The implication that Sears had turned state's evidence and might finger other companies involved in similarly illegal acts -- which, of course, Sears denied it had committed -- was, the sources contend, simply wrong.
