I can not get this statement out of my head.
DeLay has claimed innocence all along and has defiantly stood his ground and kept his leadership position.
The House backed down to the demonRATS and reinstated the rule about stepping down if indicted.
DeLay laughed off slanderous comments by the howeird Dean.
Basically, he has told the RATS to bring it on.
Now...finally an indictment is handed down, but .....
Delay is named at the end, almost as an afterthought,
Do you think there is any chance that Earle hoped that DeLay would step down, much like Lott, based solely on the "smear" campaign? So they let statute of limitations run out, which would leave the charge (accusation) flying in the wind with no closure.
Then Tom comes along and waives the statute, FORCING Earle to either proceed, or look like the political hack he is.
Is my thinking way off base?
It is very curious, isn't it? I still have confidence that everything is going to be allright, one way or the other!
"I have no use for the guy and I hope his next job is working as the janitor at the Austin YMCA."
Would you prefer a gun-grabbing Democrat in his seat in the House?
He did speak at one, but I don't know how much heat he took for it. He is a dim, after all, and they never do anything wrong.
I was referring to the list that came out this summer saying that Provo was the nation's most conservative city, followed by Lubbock, and then Abilene. Detroit was the most liberal.
Ronnie Earle has a history of fake indictments and usually loses.
The trouble is some useful idiots will buy the lie, and vote accordingly.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
OK, I understand now. Yeah, that list was a complete joke, the methodology was junior-high level. But of course the media played it up without going into that aspect, so a lot of people didn't realize it. Kinda like those lists of the fattest cities, based on how many yoga classes per 1,000 residents. That kind of 'hard' statistics.
...or as Powerline notes:
"On the other hand, our friend Ed Morrissey provides a superb overview of a scandal that has taken place under the nose of Senator Chuck Schumer: "The man in the mirror." It is a scandal that involves criminal misconduct of a kind that Senator Schumer himself usually luxuriates in denouncing. Yet Senator Schumer has reacted with a strange new silence, and the MSM, most prominently including the New York Times, have treated the scandal with a silence that is described in the cliche as deafening."
I have a suggestion for all re-districting in every state. Set it up by counties. If a county is big (like San Diego) - then it would have more than one rep. depending on the population within the county - but all the reps would still be for the whole county - not little nit-picky areas within one county.
How about that ..?? This way .. the district lines ARE NEVER MOVED because they're the county lines. The county mix is what it is. If you have more than one rep in your county, then maybe at least one of the reps will see things from your viewpoint.
Of course, that is probably just too simple to be acceptable.
What you suggest would not comply with Earl Warren's 1960s rulings on "one-man, one-vote."
"What you suggest would not comply with Earl Warren's 1960s rulings on 'one-man, one-vote.'"
You'll have to expound on your statement .. because I don't see any relation to what I said.
To bad redistricting is done by population.
This indictment will slow down new law making by the House of Representatives - I think that falls under the general heading of Obstruction of Justice. It is also, of course, a frivolous lawsuit and I believe both of those are illegal and merit a countersuit by Rep. Delay. Fight fire with fire!
