Rangel: Cheney should be 'ashamed' for age remark (Unabashed Hypocrite Alert)
Newsday ^ | October 5, 2005 | SARA KUGLER

Posted on 10/05/2005 2:23:48 PM PDT by RWR8189

NEW YORK -- Vice President Dick Cheney's feud with Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel was perpetuated Wednesday when the 75-year-old congressman said Cheney "ought to be ashamed of himself" for a remark about his age.

Months of verbal attacks from Rangel turned into a back and forth on Monday when the 64-year-old vice president said Rangel is "losing it," later adding that "Charlie is a lot older than I am, and it shows."

After an appearance at City Hall on Wednesday, Rangel was asked when the dispute would die.

"I think it ends when he apologizes for attacking me as a senior citizen. It's true that I'm much older than he is, but that has nothing to do with mental alertness," Rangel said.

Rangel has suggested in recent interviews that Cheney, who suffers from heart trouble, might not be healthy enough to do his job.

"I would like to believe he's sick rather than just mean and evil," Rangel said last Friday on the cable channel NY1.

During an interview on Monday with nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh, Cheney said he was bewildered by Rangel's attacks.

"I'm frankly surprised at his comments. It almost struck me _ they were so out of line, it almost struck me that there was some _ Charlie was having some problem," Cheney said.

"Charlie is losing it, I guess."

Congressman Calls VP Too Old and Sick For the Job

"He should never have stepped up in the first place," Rangel said. "He's too old for the job and doesn't have the experience."

Maybe he should have told rangel to do what he suggested leahy do.

My suggestion climb into the hole in ground zero and see what your boy fidel would have done if he had half a chance and them move to cuba for medical care.

You will never get the complete story from (Don't Say Long Island) Newsday. They are like The New York Times, with even lower journalistic standards. Until you read that paper, you would not think such a thing were possible. But Newsday proves it, day after day...

"I would like to believe he's sick rather than just mean and evil,"

See? Rangel was trying to give Cheney the benefit of the doubt, and Cheney turned it around and made it something ugly. (/sarcasm)

How the h-ll do people like Rangel get elected?

i dont remeber rangel being at all upset when kerry made remarks about cheneys duaghter being a lesbian during a debate.... as usual dems always want others to maintain a standard that they themselves are completely incapable of reaching.

Rangel, lead by setting an example.

Rangle's pretty stupid....Cheney never said anything about his age (Rangle said something about Cheney's age and health). Cheney said "He's losing it" which is obvious to anyone.

Charlie is what I term a face man (lights, camera, action). He is nothing more then a can of hot air (IMHO). He is a prime example of a hateful, undignified representative. I'd rather listen to the wind blow! He is simply a big old Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Cheney said:

"I don't know what I did to offend him, but he's gotten pretty nasty lately.... I think Charlie is a lot older than I am, and it shows,"

In response to Rangel saying crap like this:

"He should never have stepped up in the first place," Rangel said. "He's too old for the job and doesn't have the experience."

Cheney made a factual remark and Rangel is spewing opinions. So to Rangel facts are more shameful than lies?

"Charlie is a lot older than I am, and it shows."

Our VP can say anything he wants and he can't top Charlie Rangel. It's about time he was put in his place. Cheers to our great VP.

Rangel is now and always has been a hypocrite. I listened to him many times when I knew and he knew he was lying.
The dims think if they repeat over and over, it becomes the truth. Does that tell you more about them. And, when the truth is told about them, they accuse you of lying. The truth hurts them so much, they show the pain.

He is so disgusting. He can lie and never blink an eye.
I tried lying to my parents when I was about 15 (now 70), I will never forget it, I broke out in the most awful sweat. I wish the same would happen to the lying libs.

It's clear that Charlie Rangel hold no honor for the office of the VP. What a petty man.

Of course, he played the senior citizen card as a defense ("how dare he!").

Yep. Probably hides behind skirts now and then too.

Did you ever notice that people like Rangle, and other black spokesmen who proposer to speak for all black and mixed-race people, never refer to "All Americans,"
or "The American People."

They are concerned only with "The Black Community," or "My people," or "African-Americans."

Who are the real racists?

I realize that they keep racism alive because that is where they make their living. Where would Jesse Jackson be without the "race-card."

Just think, this pig will be chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee if the 'rats regain control of Congress before he dies. And that blithering idiot John Conyers (probably doesn't know basic traffic laws) would become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Bolshevik Bela Pelosi becomes Speaker of the House (and third in line for the Presidency, BTW).
