A powerful Iranian cleric told Tehran’s Friday prayers worshippers the Islamic Republic was unwavering in its nuclear venture and unafraid of international sanctions.

“We mustn’t be afraid of sanctions. Even though there is a loss, it also has benefits. We should not fear the losses”, Guardian Council chief Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said.

“If we have made any headway these days, it is because of these sanctions against us. Otherwise, we would be like these Arab countries, who have to import everything”, Jannati said.

“If we fear sanctions then we will have to accept submission”, Jannati said.

The powerful cleric, who is a trusted confidant of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused the European trio of Britain, France and Germany of having cheated Iran during the nuclear talks. He said what the U.S. and European were saying on Iran’s nuclear program “doesn’t make sense in any logic”.

The IAEA board of governors has adopted a resolution that would refer Iran’s nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council for possible sanctions.

Wow. How brave. They have to tell us they are {mostly) unafraid of .....................sanctions.

"Bring it on" will include a MASSIVE strategic first strike against ALL Iranian communications, command and control, military hardware, troops, and civilian infrastructure.

"Bring it on" will make shock and awe look really really limp.

So, I agree. Bring it on!!!

It's always fun when imam's try to sound American. I think he's inviting us to a cheering competition...

I wonder what is farsi for "booty call?"

likely he took his viagra before the speech. is it too early to call him tehran ted?

"americans are cowering in fear and running from our holy soldiers by the millions! there are no tomahawk missiles striking that building behind me! you can still see this tv broadcast because the infidels were too stupid to attack our communications infrastructure!"

what exactly are we waiting for here? an invitation? well, they just gave us one, apparently.

He may have a point. 13 years of U.N. sanctions against Iraq accomplished nothing.... except making some U.N. officials a little richer.

Interment camps or deportation for all muslims in the USA.

Never let the fox into the hen house and expect blind loyalty to America.

The Mecca needs to be glassed over with all it's followers. Our spineless politicians endanger all patriotic Americans.

My God can stomp your allah's camel smelling ass.

Let the muslims play the role of a fool and see how a nuked mecca thrives.

Fix Bayonets,

I don't think that deportation and internment camp is fair. We have several pro-US Muslims on FR who are Republican and active. Above noted.

It wouldn't take as long as Iraq since we already have assests in the area to deal with them (on 3 sides - Iraq, Afghanistan, & the gulf).

screw "as long as iraq" i would not even bother invasion and occupation. just detroy everything and then let someone else rise to the top, whoever it is. not like we could get much worse than who is in power now.

“We mustn’t be afraid of sanctions.

Sanctions are for the UN.

Of course they shouldn't be afraid of them, after all how many UN sanctions did it take before action against them by Saddam did it take?
