Season Finale: Rome, Episode 12, Kalends of February 9PM EST---Legio XIII Forever!
HBO ^ | 20 NOV 2005 | dcbryan1

Posted on 11/20/2005 3:52:19 PM PST by DCBryan1

As a result of their arena exploits, Pullo and Vorenus have become heroes to the Roman rank and file, causing Caesar to reward those he normally would punish. Pullo's unexpected return to Vorenus' household is not appreciated by his former slave Eirene. Caesar decides to overhaul the Senate by adding some unexpected new faces, to the chagrin of the old guard. And Servilia hurdles the final obstacle in her ambitious revenge scenario, at Niobe's expense.

Well, crap, thanks for that!

I sooo loved that character. I am sad to see him go. What a great actor.

I am truly impressed with this actor, Ciaran Hinds. (How do you pronounce his first and last names?) I realized when watching at the beginning of the season, that he wouldn't be around long, however, I didn't realize he would conquer the Gauls and be assassinated in one season. IMHO, Caesar's reign of power should have been spread out over 2 seasons. Anyone know what else he has been in?

I'd like to keep track of him.

BTW, thanks for the pic..I will mourn the loss.

until then, I want to see "Gates of Fire" about Leonidas and the Spartans at Thermopolyae.

Ditto. I remember reading that book and thinking what a great flick that would be. That author had several good books and Hollywood decides to make a movie about the one that no one cares about "The Legend of Bagger Vance".

Anyone know what else he has been in?

Tomb Raider Lara Croft 2: The Cradle of Life. He was the bad guy.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it. What genius at Hollywood takes a look at some of Pressfield's books and says "Let's see. Should we make a move about the Spartans that made one of the most heroic stands in history which turned out to save Western Civilization before it was snuffed out in it's infancy or a golf movie with Matt Damon and Will Smith?"

Freakin genius move.

Wow..didn't realize so many FReepers watched this show too! I love it...great entertainment and they tried to stay fairly loyal with respect to history, even though some of it is truly unknown.

I hated that they killed off Niobe! Love Vorenus and Pullo...can't wait for next season.

Right...HBO put out info early on touting the show, saying it was mostly about the two warriors, Pullo and Vorenus, not so much Caesar or the empire. I love it! I wonder who Vorenus ends up with now that he's a widower. I know that Vorenus is going to be powerful and rich..not sure what happens with Pullo.

Thank goodness they gave us Deadwood too...but now we have NOTHING until the Sopranos fires up again in March...

LOL! There's still House, CSI-Miami (have to have my Horatio fix), Without a Trace, Grey's Anatomy, Nip/Tuck, Lost and the Bachelor...

I dunno. They spanned a year in the episode 'Caesarian'. Doesn't Caeser need to declare Octavian his heir?

He does so in his will, which is big surprise to Antony.

Good thread, this.

LOL! I nearly pissed myself. Did you say it with Pullo's voice?

"What a sad end to wonderful acting from Ciaran Hinds."

I'd peg him to have a bright future in acting. I think I'd say that for many of the cast.
