AC-130 Toasts Iraqi Terrorists (Amazing Video)
The Nav Log ^ | 1/3/06

This is remarkable film footage. This is a night vision movie from Iraq, showing live action against Iraqi insurgents. The pictures were taken from an AC-130 Specter gunship two and a half miles from the target. The guys in the picture are setting up a roadside bomb and planning to ambush an American convoy which followed a short while after the pictures were taken. They were setting up the ambush and were pacing off the distance from the bomb to where the convoy was to pass by.

Turn your sound up. The level of effort these Specter crews put forth to control the enemy's antics is commendable, and their marksmanship with those electronically controlled 40mm cannons is astounding.

ABC news ran these during the initial fighting in Iraq. So the secret is out.

It's the Same video. It was first posted on FR in 2003. Jeff Head posted it again 12/1/05.

...Looks like they were a little confused, now they don't need to concern themselves further...

And, as Martha says, "That's a good thing..."

This video is from an Apache and first surfaced about two years ago.

This attack was not done by an AC-130 unless there is a new version that can hover.

I would tell you all about it, but I signed papers when I retired from AF saying that I agreed not to discuss any captured UFO technology.

True...an AC-130 doesn't hover, it orbits.

Yes, the truncated version omits the footage which shows what the pull-starts were doing prior to becoming red mists in the field. I believe that the truncated version was a French media mod to portray the US as firing indiscriminately on innocent civilians.

Isn't that the same video that was shot from an Apache at least a year ago? Doesn't look like it could be from a fixed-wing aircraft.

Yes it is. More like two years ago. At least it's the long version of the Apache Video.

The guys probably weren't setting up an IED, but rather transferring something like an RPG or ManPad SAM. One of the guys is shown trying to get it into action just as the gunner shifts targets from another guy to him. He never gets it, or anything else, into action, ever again.

"was a French media mod"

ABC news, according to Snopes.

But equally, if not more so, anti-American.

Oldie but goodie ... and it's an Apache not an AC-130.

" ... vanish into thin air when shot".

"Vanish"? How about "splattered". :-)

From Snopes: So far though, in spite of its graphic nature, the film does not seem to have attracted much attention from the anti-war movement.

I understand that one anti-war website showed the film, describing it as "American pilots murdering some Iraqis who were working on farm equipment".

This reminds me of the same leftist poison spewed out by "Ramparts" magazine in the '60s, which published a picture of American soldiers gang-raping raping a Vietnamese girl.

Turned out to be a snap from a Vietnamese bordello in Saigon.

And yes, a salvo of depleted-uranium 30mm chaingun rounds from an Apache would ruin somebody's day, rather effectively.

Don't think those were DU rounds, rather HE, High Explosive. Much better against soft targets. They will definitely do a number on exposed "troops".

I make that to be 144 virgins. Can anyone confirm this?

It would be 216 virgins, there were 3 of them. However, unfortunately at the time of the action the Virgin supply was severely strained. These guys got a virgin goat, a virgin sheep and a virgin dog. Not each, altogether.

Zactly. They were dropping off a weapon so they could pick it up later.

More likely so someone else could pick it up later. It was a terrorist "ammo supply point".
