WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Tehran is planning a nuclear weapons test before the Iranian New Year on March 20, 2006 says a group opposed to the regime in Tehran.
The Foundation for Democracy citing sources in the U.S and Iran offered no further information.
The FDI quotes sources in Iran that the high command of the Revolutionary Guards Air Force have issued new orders to Shahab-3 missile units, ordering them to move mobile missile launchers every 24 hours in view of a potential pre-emptive strike by the U.S. or Israel. The order was issued Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The group says the launchers move only at night, and have been instructed to change their positions "in a radius of 30 to 35 kilometers." Prior to the new orders the Shahab-3 units changed position on a weekly basis. Advance Shahab-3 units have been positioned in Kermanshah and Hamadan province, within striking distance of Israel. Reserve mobile launchers have been moved to Esfahan and Fars province.

Holy Shi'ite!
They are playing with fire.
With ground forces inside Iran, or RFID signatures wont this not matter where they move them? I don't think that a carpet bomb style raid would be planned on anything other than reactor sites, etc. No?
I heard this same report several days ago from other sources...
March 21, Naw Ruz, Persian New Year.
March is shaping up to be a very interesting month, for a variety of reasons.

how odd....March is the date Isreal said was the point of no return.....
While I won't necessarily bet on a March 2006 test, I'm certain the Iranian's are a lot closer to having a bomb than the 2-4 year estimates that have been bantered about the media.
Holy stealth, Batman, accidents do happen when you move those things so often :)
But they can't have a bomb until 2009 becuase I just read this the other day so no cause for alarm. [END SARCASM!]
March is when the Iranians switch fron dollars to Euros.
You were right on the ides of march
They're going to tempt Israel into considering their own "test."
HELL! I'm right NEXT DOOR!
I know this is coming from an opposition group, but a nuclear test is immediately verifiable and not an event that can be hoaxed. I don't think this group would risk its credibility on something so easily contradictible.
That said, once a test takes place, a nuclear exchange between Israel and Iran becomes almost inevitable.
"That said, once a test takes place, a nuclear exchange between Israel and Iran becomes almost inevitable."
If the Iranian program is as decentralized as they claim, it won't be easy to take out. It'll be very messy, in fact. That sort of carnage would be a catalyst for something much larger.
Not sure I believe this. You can't go from breaking the seals on the research facility to a functional bomb in a couple of months.
The bomb material would already have to exist, in which case there's no need to break the seals.

Crap!
NK talks a big game but they don't have the cojones to test one of their devices.
"The bomb material would already have to exist, in which case there's no need to break the seals."
Why do you believe some ceremonial seal-breaking for show, then?
Already posted...lengthy thread ongoing
This is not possible unless Iran already has a nuclear weapon. Where did it come from?
I've been wondering about the timing of the symbolic U.N. seals removal.
It almost seemed too rehearsed. If I was a maniacal doomsday nut, I'd be working on the sly and already have nuclear material before starting more trouble.
I believe at least one ABomb is already being readied.
The Ezekiel Option is a great book! A real page turner! Great ending!
I am sure they already have some sort of nuke weapon. Too many other players involved.
Put in for R&R now.........
"Where did it come from?"
My bet would be Russia, although it would likely have been black market, as opposed to something more overt.
I think that Israel has a clause in its Constitution (I believe it's Article 1) that's based on the old saying "those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it"....it's called
you can have a nuclear program in a single day if you buy it from the communists.
Well this ought to move the DOOMDAY CLOCK up some...
Not neccessarily. Iran has at best right now an arsenal of 1 half-functional nuke. Israel has over 100. Iran knows in a nuclear exchange they'd be obliterated.
The western countries plan nuclear test on Terhan...
Imagine these decentralized facilities have been in the works for a very long time. Bet the Syrians moved what they got from Iraq into Iran. Appears to be a number of dark clouds gathering on the Middle East horizon.
Their own obliteration doesn't seem to worry the Iranians. They are doing it for Allah and the destruction of their enemies is more important.
{DEEEEEEP BREATH....}
Maybe I should turn into a Democrat and bury my head in the sand.
Less stressful that way. ;-)
You're in IRAQ???? Holy Mother of God...the 9th Century knuckledraggers would have a field day with you if they could get their hands on you....BE CAREFUL!!!!!
first and last
disturbing info
You mean the NCAA basketball tournament, right?
;-)
Doubtful. They are moving all their reserves out of Europe.
